HTC Desire 316 shows up in China

HTC has added yet another midrange Desire-branded offering to its smartphone roster. For now, the Desire 316 has only showed itself on HTC’s website for China, but it may be on its way to other markets too (though probably only in Asia).

It features the x16 branding that got started with the Desire 816, HTC’s first midrange phablet, and it may not be the last one in the series, with a Desire 616 already on the way.

The HTC Desire 316 comes with a 5-inch 540×960 touchscreen, a 5 MP rear camera with LED flash, a VGA front camera, a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor, 512 MB of RAM, 4 GB of internal storage, microSD card support, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, and a 1,950 mAh battery. It runs Android 4.3 Jelly Bean. Its dimensions are 140x72x9.7 mm, and it weighs 160 grams.

It’s made for CDMA communications, which means China Telecom should launch it soon (as it’s the only Chinese carrier to use that standard). Obviously, going by the specs at work here, this should be a rather cheap device, though do expect HTC to charge a premium for its brand recognition, as it always has done with midrangers.
