Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 7.0, Galaxy Tab 4 8.0, and Galaxy Tab 4 10.1 tablets finally announced

Yes, ladies and gents, it’s finally happened. Samsung has announced the Galaxy Tab 4 line, comprising of the Galaxy Tab 4 7.0, Galaxy Tab 4 8.0, and Galaxy Tab 4 10.1. Why, of all days of the year, the company would choose April Fools Day to make these tablets official is anyone’s guess. But make no mistake about it – these are real. They’ve been leaking like crazy over the past couple of months.

The new Galaxy Tab 4 tablets serve as Samsung’s lower-end offerings in this space, nicely complementing the recently introduced Tab Pro and Note Pro series which cater to the high-end.

All three Galaxy Tab 4 tablets come with 1,280×800 screen resolution, a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor, 1.5 GB of RAM, a 3 MP rear camera, a 1.3 MP front camera, microSD card support, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, and Android 4.4 KitKat running the show.

The differences between the three obviously start at screen size – the 7.0 has a 7-inch touchscreen, the 8.0 an 8-inch panel, and the 10.1 a 10.1-inch display just as you may have thought. The 7″ tablet has 8 or 16 GB of internal storage, while the other two only come in one 16 GB version. The 8″ tablet has a 4,450 mAh battery, while the 10.1-incher sports a 6,800 mAh cell. Curiously, the capacity for the Galaxy Tab 4 7.0 isn’t listed by Samsung in its official spec list.

All tablets will come in three variations: Wi-Fi-only, Wi-Fi+3G, and Wi-Fi+4G LTE. Dimensions are as follows: 243.4×176.4×7.95 mm for the Galaxy Tab 4 10.1, which weighs 487 grams, 210x124x7.95 mm for the Galaxy Tab 4 8.0, which weighs 320 grams, and 186.9×107.9×9 mm for the Galaxy Tab 4 7.0, which weighs 276 grams.

Samsung failed to say anything about pricing for these tablets in its communications, so those things are still up in the air. Yet you should probably expect the Galaxy Tab 4 10.1 to start at $399.

All three tablets will be out before the end of June in black and white.
