Sprint-bound LG G3 has its specs revealed

It looks like Sprint will sell LG’s next flagship smartphone, the G3. The handset already has its own user agent profile (UAProf) over on the Now Network’s website, and through this file we get a peek at some of the most important specs that this superphone will have.

The handset in question bears the model number LS990, which seems like the logical successor to the LS980, which, as you may have guessed, is the LG G2 sold by Sprint.

And before you say something like “but this could also be the G Pro 2″, know that the UAProf clearly reveals the LS990 to come with 2,560×1,440 screen resolution, also known as QHD or 2K. The G Pro 2 ‘only’ has a 1080p screen, so it’s not that.

Moving along, we also get a 13 MP rear camera, a 2.1 MP front camera, a 2.3 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, 32 GB of internal storage, and microSD card support. The smartphone will obviously run Android 4.4 KitKat from day one.

We don’t have an exact screen size to speak of, so we’ll have to believe past leaks saying it will be a 5.5″ unit. And that chipset choice does seem rather bizarre in a day and age when all of LG’s competitors are using the somewhat improved Snapdragon 801 CPU. But maybe these specs relate to nothing more but an early prototype for now, there’s no way to be sure.

Still, we hope LG will use the 2.5 GHz Snapdragon 801 in the G3, just like Samsung has done for its Galaxy S5. Time will tell though. The G3 has been rumored to become official in May.
