LG G3 announcement coming in June, release in July
Last we heard anything about its unveiling date, the LG G3 was due to be announced on May 17. If that date was accurate at some point, it seems to have changed. And there’s also the possibility that it was never planned to be G3 Day at all.
Either way, a new report comes out of LG’s native South Korea today and tells us that the G3 will actually be introduced sometime in late June. Its release date will be in early July, not far away from the announcement.
As you may have guessed, the G3 will be LG’s next flagship smartphone for the mainstream market (whereas the already official G Pro 2 caters to phablet lovers). The G3 will be the successor to the G2, and if this rumor pans out, it will be unveiled around 10 months after its predecessor.
LG has decided not present the G3 a year after the G2 because, “when you see the current market conditions”, a release in August would have been too late. LG clearly feels that it needs to have an answer to the Samsung Galaxy S5, HTC One M8, and Sony Xperia Z2 as soon as possible.
