AT&T Samsung Galaxy S4 Active Android 4.4 KitKat update now rolling out
The updates to Android 4.4 KitKat keep on rolling out. The latest in line to receive the newest version of Android is AT&T’s Samsung Galaxy S4 Active.
The carrier announced that the new software bits are headed out to Galaxy S4 Active devices starting today. The update is rolling out over-the-air. As such, your phone should notify you when it’s ready to download and install, but be advised that the whole process could be staggered, which means it may be a while before your particular handset receives KitKat.
If you’re impatient, you can always force a manual check by going to Settings > More > About Device > Software Update and selecting Check for Updates. AT&T recommends you only start the process if you have at least 50% battery left.
The update brings with it all that’s new in KitKat, alongside some other improvements. You get the restyled status and navigation bars, the new full screen immersive mode, color emoji support, improved closed captioning, stronger security, smarter power use, full screen album art and media controls on the lock screen while listening to music, camera access from the lock screen, a new location menu, wireless printing built-in, and new sound controls.
