LG G3 Mini has specs possibly leaked
The LG G3 isn’t even official yet, but apparently the Korean company is already hard at work on a G3 Mini as well. That’s interesting, because the G2 Mini isn’t available at the moment having been announced in February. Yet there’s a successor in the works – LG never sleeps, it seems.
It’s unclear when the G3 Mini will surface, but it’s a safe bet that it will come sometime after the G3, which may get announced in June and released in July. So perhaps we’ll see the G3 Mini at IFA in early September.
As you’d expect, compared to the G2 Mini the upcoming G3 Mini takes the specs up a notch. It will come with a 720p HD touchscreen (up from the measly resolution of 540×960 on the G2 Mini), an 8 MP rear camera, and it runs Android 4.4.2 KitKat (at least at the moment). The G3 Mini will be offered by AT&T, since there’s a version of it tailor made for that particular carrier.
All of this information comes via a user agent profile from LG’s own website. This has been found for the device with the model number D725 and the codename B2 Mini. Now the LG G3 is widely believed to have the codename B2, so you see why we think this is the G3 Mini we’re talking about here.
That said, the B2 codename for the G3 hasn’t been confirmed yet, nor the fact that B2 Mini is actually going to be the LG G3 Mini. So do take all of this with a small dose of salt – just in case.
Otherwise, it’s pretty clear that LG will at some point make a smaller version of its next flagship, and it makes sense to call it G3 Mini, and to make it more powerful than the G2 Mini. Then again, releasing it so soon after the G2 Mini might confuse people – a lot. We’ll have to wait and see what happens.
