Ultra high-end Vivo Xshot launching on May 7, same day as the Huawei Ascend P7
The Xplay 3S is soon going to be joined in Vivo’s portfolio by yet another super high-end smartphone, though this one is apparently going to be focused on imaging quality. It will be called Vivo Xshot, and interestingly the Chinese company decided to make it official on May 7.
We say “interestingly” because that’s exactly the date on which Huawei already has an event scheduled, during which it’s set to unveil the Ascend P7 in Paris. This timing overlap is clearly not a coincidence or oversight on Vivo’s part. It’s pretty obvious that the smaller company wants to piggyback somewhat on all the attention that Huawei will get on that day. Or steal some from it.
The Vivo Xshot has been rumored to come with a a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor, 3 GB of RAM, 32 GB of internal storage, microSD card support, and a rear camera that’s said to be among the best ever put in a smartphone. The sensor itself will be made by Sony, and we might be talking about a 24 MP shooter with optical image stabilization and f/1.8 aperture. Last, but definitely not least, the Xshot might be using a Xenon flash, something we haven’t seen in the Android world in a very, very long while. However, don’t get your hopes too high, since another source says it’s only going to be a dual-color temperature dual-LED flash (like on the iPhone 5S, for example).
