Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini will be water and dust resistant too, could arrive in May
If the Samsung Galaxy S III had a Galaxy S III Mini, and the Galaxy S4 had a Galaxy S4 Mini, then it stands to reason that there will be a Galaxy S5 Mini to complement the Galaxy S5 in Samsung’s portfolio. Right? Right.
In fact, the Galaxy S5 Mini has been rumored a few times already, but now we get confirmation of its existence from Samsung’s arm in New Zealand. Save for an actual announcement, it doesn’t really get more official than this. Basically, Samsung itself has confirmed that it’s working on the Galaxy S5 Mini.
But wait, that’s not all. The S5 Mini will be water and dust resistant, just like the ‘normal’ Galaxy S5. And it will adhere to the same IP67 standard as its bigger sibling and the Galaxy S4 Active from last year. This means it will be fine with being submerged into up to 1 meter of water for up to 30 minutes, but not more.
This information was spotted by KopenGalaxyS5.nl in a support page over on Samsung’s New Zealand website, more specifically a section that deals with warranty exclusions.
Previously leaked specs for the Galaxy S5 Mini include a 4.5-inch 720p HD touchscreen, an 8 MP rear camera, a 2 MP front camera, a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor, 1.5 GB of RAM, 16 GB of internal storage, and Android 4.4 KitKat at the helm. It might arrive on the market (or at least get announced) in May. We’ll keep you posted.
