M8 Mini to be sold as HTC One Mini 2?
It’s definitely not a stretch to think that HTC will make a new Mini this year too, to complement the One M8 flagship and act as a successor to the One Mini from 2013. In fact, such a device’s existence has been leaked a few times so far.
But what about its name? Will it be simply the new One Mini? Or the One M8 Mini? Or something else?
Well, according to generally reliable @evleaks, it’s the latter variant. Rather strangely, the new handset will apparently be marketed as the HTC One Mini 2. Perhaps HTC thinks that if there’s a word in between “one” and “two” it can get away with calling a phone “one two”.
This could be true – after all, naming its new flagship One M8 doesn’t make much sense either, but HTC’s done that anyway. At least that isn’t the One 2, as we feared it might. Oh, and that’s probably a first too – using a smartphone’s codename in its actual name.
So since HTC has done stranger things, and in the recent past no less, we would really not be surprised to see a One Mini 2 on the market soon.
If you’re wondering what to expect from it in terms of specs, previous leaks talked about a 4.5-inch 720p HD touchscreen, a 13 MP rear camera, a 5 MP front camera, a 1.4 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor, 1 GB of RAM, 16 GB of internal storage, microSD card support, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.0, and it should run Android 4.4 KitKat with HTC Sense 6 on top.
