Sprint Samsung Galaxy S III Android 4.4 KitKat update now rolling out
Another day, another KitKat update. It does seem like every 24 hours we get news about a new rollout of Google’s newest version of Android, but all of these come after many months in which we had no such news. After all, KitKat was made official in October last year.
So all of these updates have been a long time coming. This time around, the happy recipient of the new bits is Sprint’s Samsung Galaxy S III. While for the international models there’s been some controversy as to whether the Galaxy S III would ever get updated to this version of the OS, all the units sold by US carriers should receive it.
And Sprint has been the fastest out of the gate with it. The rollout is an over-the-air affair as you’d expect, and it’s begun today. This, however, doesn’t necessarily mean that you’ll get the update notification within a few hours. These things are usually staggered, so it may take a few days for it to reach your particular device.
Sprint hasn’t issued a changelog for the update yet, only saying that it’s KitKat we’re talking about. After applying the update, you’ll be on software version L710VPUCND8.
