New round of LG G3 specs purportedly leaked, Snapdragon 805 CPU in tow
However, one thing that leak skipped past was the chipset that will be used in the G3. Thankfully though, another purported leak comes to the rescue. Do take it with a grain of salt, though, for in these cases it might just be someone’s imagination at work.
Anyway, what the new rumor says is that the LG G3 will come with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor. Prototypes have been going around with the Snapdragon 801, but apparently the yet-unreleased more powerful version will eventually be used. Since the Snapdragon 805 isn’t in any smartphone yet, this requires us to believe that Qualcomm would choose LG to launch its highest performing chipset ever. That’s not impossible, of course, since pretty much the same thing happened last year with the Snapdragon 800 and the G2.
The G3 is also said to come with a 13 MP rear camera made by Sony (namely the IMX214), and this will feature optical image stabilization in its OIS+ incarnation (like in the LG G Pro 2). The exact same thing was revealed to us by last week’s leak, so this is probably true. Yet the two sources of information differ on the battery capacity – this time we’re hearing it will be 3,200 mAh, while in the past that was said to be 3,000 mAh (essentially unchanged from the G2).
The 32 GB version of the G3 is once again confirmed to come with 3 GB of RAM, though no word this time on the 16 GB variant, and whether it will come with just 2 GB of RAM. The 5.5-inch 2,560×1,440 (QHD) touchscreen has been mentioned yet another time, and there’s been talk of a plastic build for the device.
That wouldn’t be surprising at all considering that the G2 is made out of plastic too (just like every other LG smartphone out there), but perhaps the Korean company will go with a metal-like design for the back cover. What you see above is apparently what that will look like.
Finally, the G3’s battery will probably be replaceable, given that this seems to be what the image above is showing. With just 20 days to go until the official introduction, we’re bound to find out more and more about the LG G3 in the coming days, so stay tuned.
