HTC One Mini 2 seemingly priced in Europe, could be expensive
HTC is currently hard at work on the One Mini 2, the successor to the One Mini from 2013 and a smaller lookalike of the One M8, its current flagship offering. It’s still unclear when exactly the One Mini 2 will get unveiled, but judging by how many leaks about it we’ve seen recently, it’s probably going to happen sooner, rather than later.
Since this handset’s full specs have been known for months now, and earlier this week we even saw some leaked press renders showing it in all its glory, the only unknown detail at the moment (aside from its release date, of course) seems to be how much it will cost.

Though thanks to a couple of listings from Finnish retailers, that may not be a mystery anymore. Before we proceed, though, you should know that you shouldn’t necessarily trust such things. Certain shops like to capitalize on the interest in upcoming smartphones that aren’t official yet by listing them – while attaching absurdly high prices. Obviously, in these cases these companies have no idea what the devices will actually cost once they’re for sale, they’re just putting SKUs up to get some pageviews.
And what we’re seeing today might be this exact thing happening. Two online stores from Finland have the “HTC One Mini M8″ listed for virtually identical prices. In one case it’s €521.70, while in the other we’re looking at €522.90. Of course these prices apply to a SIM-free and unlocked One Mini 2, but still they’re pretty high.
That’s especially true considering that the One Mini 2 will have only its looks in common with the One M8, with specs putting it clearly in midrange territory. The new ‘Mini’ from HTC is set to have a 4.5-inch 720p HD touchscreen, a 13 MP rear camera with LED flash, a 5 MP front camera, a 1.4 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor, 1 GB of RAM, 16 GB of internal storage, microSD card support, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.0, and it should run Android 4.4 KitKat with HTC Sense 6 on top.
Both Finnish retailers say the One Mini 2 will be released on May 14, but there’s no way to tell if that’s just a made up date or not. If HTC decides to repeat what it did with the One M8, then the One Mini 2 could be announced on May 14 as well – and become available within hours of the unveiling. Let’s wait and see what happens.
