Samsung Galaxy S5 Active specs get leaked through benchmark

It’s been quite a while since we last heard anything about a Samsung Galaxy S5 Active being in the works. In fact, after the Galaxy S5 got announced coming with water and dust resistance itself (and the same IP67 specification as the Galaxy S4 Active from last year), the rumors about a new Active variant pretty much died down.

Until now, that is. It looks like Samsung may release an S5 Active after all, because someone in possession of a prototype for the upcoming device has run the AnTuTu benchmark. You probably already know what this means – we now have its most important specs. Despite that, though, we can’t tell you what exactly will set this phone apart from the ‘vanilla’ Galaxy S5. Perhaps the Active will come with IP68 protection, allowing it to be submerged deeper into water and for more time than the S5. We could also see a different, more sporty design. But this is all just speculation at the moment.

What isn’t that is the following list of specs that the Galaxy S5 Active will sport. Its model number, by the way, is SM-G870. The benchmarked phone was the SM-G870A, which is the one destined for AT&T. So yes, you’ll be able to buy this handset from at least one US carrier.

The S5 Active has a screen with 1080p Full HD resolution, a 16 MP rear camera, a 2 MP front camera, a 2.5 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor, 2 GB of RAM, 16 GB of internal storage, and it runs Android 4.4 KitKat.

The specs are identical to the ones of the Galaxy S5, so once again it seems like the differentiating factors between these two devices will be found elsewhere.
