Samsung Galaxy Note 4 rumored to come with 5.7″ 2,560×1,440 touchscreen

In what probably is the most unsurprising news of the year, today we find out that the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Note 4 will sport a touchscreen with 2,560×1,440 (QHD or 1440p) resolution.

That’s totally unsurprising because this particular screen resolution is quickly becoming the norm at the absolute high-end of the smartphone space. The Note 4, however, won’t be the first Samsung phone bearing it, as the oft-leaked Galaxy S5 Prime should take that crown. The S5 Prime being a tad smaller will also win in the pixel density department, but the difference between its ppi and the Galaxy Note 4’s will be so small that no one will actually spot it in real life.

Samsung Galaxy Note 4 table

The info about the Galaxy Note 4 and its screen resolution comes straight from a leaked table which you can see above. This speaks about certain Samsung phones, one of which we’ve already seen – the ‘vanilla’ Galaxy S5. The other two Galaxy S5 versions have been rumored for a long time now, and the new entrant in the fray is the Galaxy Note 4. If Samsung keeps its past release schedule, the Note 4 should be announced at the end of August or the beginning of September and start shipping a week or two after that.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 will apparently have the model number SM-N910, which makes sense since its predecessor is the SM-N900. Its codename is T (Muscat).

What’s interesting here is the screen size. The Note 4 is said to come with a 5.7-inch panel, just like the Galaxy Note 3. Previously, Samsung’s premier phablet line used to grow in size from one generation to the next by .2 inches. Will that stop with the Galaxy Note 4? Possibly, since despite the fact that Samsung loves making things bigger and bigger there’s a point after which we aren’t dealing with phablets anymore, but proper tablets. And the company surely wants people to keep talking on the Note series, so not making its screen larger than that of the current generation offering seems like a pretty wise thing to do.

On the other hand, the Galaxy Note 4 could get a flexible / bent display, so its actual size may be larger than the 5.7-inches of it you’ll have on the device’s front. It may be waterproof as well. It’s still early in the Note 4 rumor cycle, so stick around and we’ll let you know when things become more clear.
