AT&T’s LG Optimus G Pro starts receiving Android 4.4 KitKat update today
Last we head anything about the Android 4.4 KitKat update for the LG Optimus G Pro from 2013, it was supposed to arrive in June. It’s not quite June yet, but AT&T’s version of LG’s first phablet is due to start receiving the new software version today. This could in fact be the first KitKat update for the original G Pro to roll out anywhere in the world, so that’s something.
The update comes over-the-air, so your handset will notify you when it’s ready to download and install. As always in these cases, keep in mind that it might take a while for the update to reach your particular device, since such rollouts are staggered.
The update brings with it restyled status and navigation bars, a new full-screen mode, stronger security, better battery life, support for cloud printing, and enhanced processing speed. The update comes in at 700 to 800 MB, and won’t count against your data usage if you choose to download it over AT&T’s network.
After applying the update, you’ll be on Android 4.4.2, software version E98020g. If you haven’t received the notification yet, you can manually check by going to Settings > General > About phone > Software update and tapping on Update now.
