Huawei Honor 3X Pro and Honor 3C 4G get official with good specs, great prices
Huawei held an event in China today during which it updated its Honor line. These smartphones have been created to battle Xiaomi and its incredible price per features ratio. The Honor devices are sold in a similar manner to Xiaomi’s, and they come with good specs for great prices.
Even more so starting now. The original Honor 3X and Honor 3C were unveiled in December, and already we’re seeing updates – though they’re not huge.
First up, we have the Honor 3X Pro (seen above). Compared to its non-Pro predecessor, this model has a higher-res screen (1080p compared to 720p) made with a better technology (LTPS), double the internal storage (now 16 GB), and a new back cover that comes with a “smooth skin texture design”, whatever that may mean.
The other specs have remained the same, so we have 5.5-inch screen size, a 13 MP rear camera, a 5 MP front camera, a 1.7 GHz octa-core MediaTek MT6592 processor, 2 GB of RAM, dual-SIM, 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, DTS sound and a 3,000 mAh battery. The Huawei Honor 3X Pro runs Android 4.2 Jelly Bean with the company’s own Emotion UI sprinkled on top.
The Huawei Honor 3C (pictured below) now has support for China Mobile’s flavor of 4G, that is TD-LTE. The updated model is called Honor 3C 4G even though only the version for China Mobile actually has that connectivity. There’s a second SKU, destined for China Unicom, that’s 3G-only. The rest of the specs are shared between the two.
They both have an improved processor, the HiSilicon Kirin 910 (1.6 GHz quad-core ARM Cortex-A9), a new back cover, and Android 4.4 KitKat on board. Other things have remained unchanged through this upgrade, such as the 5-inch 720p HD screen, 8 MP rear camera, 5 MP front camera, and 2,300 mAh battery.
There will be two prices for the new Honor 3C. The model with 1 GB of RAM and 8 GB of internal storage will go for 998 yuan, which means approximately $160 or €117 at the current exchange rates. The one with 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of built-in space will retail for 1,298 yuan ($208, €152).
The Honor 3X Pro is priced at 1,698 yuan ($272, €199). Both handsets will be up for pre-order starting tomorrow, with availability slated for June 5.
