LG G3 outsells Samsung Galaxy S5 in its first days of availability
Well, well, well. It looks like LG is winning in the war against its arch-enemy, Samsung. Since going on sale in South Korea last week, the LG G3 has been consistently outselling the Samsung Galaxy S5. And we’re not talking about the S5’s sales right now, a few months after it was released. No, the following numbers compare the G3’s performance to the Galaxy S5’s sales in its first days of availability, back in April.
And the situation is very good indeed for LG. The G3 has been averaging around 25,000 to 30,000 units sold per day since its release, compared to just 7,000 to 8,000 for the Galaxy S5. That’s quite a difference, more than a 3-to-1 ratio in fact. Compared to its flagship for last year, the G2, the G3 sold twice as much.
What’s more, LG has been able to pull this off while also spending significantly less than Samsung on marketing. So it looks like that QHD (2,560×1,440) screen really is incredibly sought after, at least in Korea. Or maybe it’s the G3’s overall compactness that tipped the scales. Though the huge number of leaks of the G3 might have had something to do with the situation too, building up hype for the handset even before it was announced.
