ElectricPig quotes some Dell rep who said at CES that the Mini 3i “was built specifically with the UK in mind” – although this doesn’t sound too realistic, since the UK will only be the fourth country to get the smartphone.

Based on Google’s Android OS, the Dell Mini 3i is a sleek handset with features like a 3.5 inch, 640 x 360 pixels touchscreen display, GPS, Wi-Fi, 3MP autofocus camera, and MicroSD card support.

It’s not clear yet which British carrier will launch the Mini 3, but Dell is probably negotiating with all the major operators (O2, Vodafone, Orange, T-Mobile).

Remember that Dell Android MID rumored to be hitting AT&T? Well, Dell has confirmed it today – although it doesn’t call it MID, but tablet, and it doesn’t say it’s for AT&T.

Dell has officially presented some renderings of the tablet (or slate, since this term is en vogue these days), but it didn’t give too many details about it, saying that it’s only a “5-inch tablet concept” with a 5MP camera, and that it should hit the market this year.

The Dell tablet has a SIM card slot, so it really could be launched by AT&T, especially since the Texas-based company has recently confirmed that its Dell Mini 3 Android smartphone is also heading to the second largest US carrier.

Here are the official Dell tablet renderings:

And some live photos, via Pocket-lint:

Dell didn’t announce a price for its Android tablet / slate, but I guess it will be a pretty high one.

The same day when it announced the availability of Nokia’s Ovi Store for its customers, AT&T has also unveiled plans to launch no less than five new Android smartphones throughout 2010 (during the first half of the year) – and no, the Google Nexus One isn’t among them, unfortunately.

Currently the only majors US carrier that doesn’t have any Android handsets in its line-up, AT&T will work with HTC, Motorola and Dell for launching the five devices.

One of AT&T’s upcoming Android smartphones is the Dell Mini 3 – already available in China and Latin America as Dell Mini 3i, and approved by the FCC to work on AT&T’s 3G bands. The folks over at Dell have confirmed the release of Mini 3 via AT&T, although they don’t say when exactly it will be available, or for what price.

AT&T’s other Android smartphones include a Motorola one “powered by MOTOBLUR, with a unique form factor and an AT&T exclusive” (could it be the Motorola Backflip / Enzo?), and a HTC one – also an AT&T exclusive. Details about them are not available at the moment.

AT&T has already prepared a webpage on its website, dedicated to Android. You can find it here. Well, what can I say… It’s good to see AT&T finally getting with the times and embracing Android.

The second largest US carrier has also announced “an agreement with Qualcomm to standardize apps development for mid-range Quick Messaging Devices using BREW Mobile Platform”, and a new AT&T SDK. Apparently, HTC, LG and Pantech will launch Brew phones for AT&T this year and in early 2011.

While there are absolutely no details about the MID for AT&T, this might be the Dell Streak (pictured below), recently appeared in Vietnam and featuring Android 2.0, 3G, Wi-Fi and a 5MP camera.

The carriers that will launch the Mini 3i are China Mobile and Claro (part of America Movil).

Dell says that its first Android smartphone will be available in China in late November, while Brazilian customers should be able to buy it before the year’s end. The handset’s price was not announced.

Apparently, China gets a 3G-less and Wi-Fi-less Dell Mini 3G, while Brazil will have a version that included both these features – a version probably called Dell Mini 3iX, which may also come to the US, via AT&T, in early 2010.

Michael Dell has recently confirmed that his company would launch an Android smartphone in the US via AT&T in early 2010 – and it looks like that smartphone is exactly the Dell Mini 3iX that we saw a few days ago in Brazil.

The FCC has just approved the Mini 3iX (850/1900 GSM and UMTS bands included), so now all AT&T and Dell have to do is announce the smartphone.

As mentioned earlier this week, the Dell Mini 3iX features Wi-Fi – unlike the China-bound Mini 3i. The handset could also come with a 3.5 inch touchscreen display with 640 x 360 pixels, A-GPS, Microsoft Exchange support and a 3MP autofocus camera.

No word yet on what Android version Dell Mini 3iX will run. Anyway, this might be the very first Android phone to be launched by AT&T, and if the price is right, there will probably be many customers to buy it.

We already know that Dell has an Android based smartphone in the works.

We saw a Wi-Fi and 3G less Dell Mini 3i officially launch in China, and we’ve heard that it may soon come to the United States.

But the U.S may not be the first country in Americas to get the new Dell handset.

Dell Mini 3iX just turned up on a site of a telecoms regulatory authority in Brazil.

And the X branded version comes with those things we missed most in it’s Chinese sibling – Wi-Fi and 3G UMTS/HSDPA connectivity. With no less then 3 bands of it – 850/1900/2100 MHz.

We are not sure about the rest of the specs, but if they remain unchanged, Dell Mini 3iX should come equipped with:

3.5 inch touchscreen display with 640 x 360 pixels, 262K colors and handwriting recognition

Multi touch User Interface

Virtual QWERTY keyboard

A-GPS

Microsoft Exchange support

Bluetooth 2.0 with EDR, USB 2.0

3MP autofocus camera with flash and 30fps video recording

MicroSD card support

122 x 58 x 11.7 mm

103 grams

And now we wait for the official announcement of Dell Mini 3iX. The holiday season is almost upon us, so it shouldn’t take long.
