Let’s start with the Xoom. This is the version that ships with 4G LTE built in, mind you. The update is only meant to fix one thing – data connectivity is now properly restored after disabling Airplane Mode. Surely a nice fix to get, but you’d hope that such an obvious action would have been tested before the tablet was released.

Anyway, the full details are buried in this PDF, and the update instructions for the Xoom are to be found in this PDF. The skinny is that it’s an over-the-air update, the tablet will notify you when it’s available, you then download and install it directly on your Xoom. Done.

It’s the same update mechanism for the Droid Bionic, of course. Its update comes with many more small improvements and enhancements though. The full list is in this PDF, but here are a few of the more important ones: text message alerts can now be received during voice calls without the call being interrupted,  device stability has been improved, battery life should also be better, data connectivity stability too, WAV files are now supported, and Amazon MP3 and VCAST Apps Store come preinstalled.

The update is about 56 MB in size. Update instructions for the Droid Bionic are in this PDF. After performing this update, your Droid Bionic will be on software version 5.9.902, as seen in the image above.

Amazon will now give you a Motorola Droid 4 for just $99.99 with a new two-year contract. That in effect is a 50% price cut compared to Verizon’s official pricing of $199.99. In mere hours.

At this price, the Droid 4 is a hard to beat bargain, especially if you need a physical QWERTY to be attached to your smartphone. So if you’re interested, head over to Amazon now and get yourself a cheap Droid 4 for the price of a midrange device.

The Motorola Droid 4 is Verizon’s second LTE handset to come with a sliding QWERTY keyboard (after the Samsung Stratosphere). It runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread (upgradeable to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich), and features a 4 inch qHD Gorilla Glass display, 1GB of RAM, 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 8MP rear camera with 1080p video recording, 1.3MP front-facing camera, 16GB of internal memory, and MicroSD card support.

Other LTE smartphones that are available at Verizon for $199 are: HTC Rezound, LG Spectrum, and Motorola Droid Razr 16GB (but these don’t have hardware keyboards).

It would be a rather minor affair, except for the fact that this update enables global roaming abilities for the two tablets. So if you like to travel overseas a lot (and take your Xyboard with you, of course), you should be quite happy about this. And you should apply this update as soon as possible.

After updating, your Xyboard will run software version 1.6.0M_279. Alongside the global roaming abilities, there are other enhancements as well. The browser should handle scrolling better, you should now be able to open links in emails without your tablet rebooting, the touch response is better, and The Daily app is preloaded. Finally, there should be seamless switching between Wi-Fi and 3G and 4G LTE connectivity.

The updates are approximately 83 MB in size, and should arrive over-the-air. When the update is ready to install, your tablet will prompt you to do so. The new Gleam+ (pictured below) features a 2.8 inch internal display with 240 x 400 pixels, external LED matrix display, music player, FM radio, 3.5mm headset jack, 2MP camera, and microSD card support (up to 16GB).

The Motorola Gleam+ will be available in Germany first (starting March), for €99.

Other two Motorola handsets that will be released in Germany in March are the Defy Mini and the Motoluxe, both running Android Gingerbread. The Defi Mini is a dust and water-resistant 3.2 inch smartphone, while the Motoluxe is aimed at style-conscious users, coming with a 4 inch edge-to-edge display and a lanyard slot that lights up.

Targeted at “all British style gurus”, the Motoluxe comes with Android 2.3 Gingerbread and MotoSwitch UI, and “a lanyard slot that lights up, so you can see when you’ve missed a call, received a text or have an email waiting for you.”

Other features include: 4 inch edge-to-edge FWVGA display, HSDPA, Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth 3.0, 8MP rear camera, VGA front-facing camera, 512MB of RAM, and an 800MHz processor.

Motorola didn’t say how much the Motoluxe would cost in the UK. However, retailer Clove is taking pre-orders for the smartphone, asking £258 (about $408) for it.

Both these things were predicted spot on by the latest leaked information. The release date is February 10, and the pricing is a pretty cool $199.99 with a new two-year contract.

So if you’d like to get a 4G LTE capable smartphone that comes with a full physical QWERTY keyboard, you’ll be able to do just that this Friday.

The Motorola Droid 4 has a 4-inch qHD (540×960) touchscreen, a 1.2 GHz dual-core processor, an 8 MP rear camera with autofocus, LED flash, and 1080p Full HD video recording, a 1.3 MP front-facing camera, 16 GB of built-in storage space, 1 GB of RAM, all the connectivity options you can think of, and a 1,785 mAh battery.

Thankfully, we now have confirmed pricing information as well. Late last month rumor had it that the Droid 4 would be priced at just $199.99 with a new two-year contract, and today this leaked screengrab from Verizon’s Equipment Guide confirms that. It’s the same Equipment Guide that gave us the release date information yesterday, and we’re confident that this is real. Of course Verizon may decide to change stuff at the last minute, so we can’t be 100% sure of anything.

If you’d rather not commit to a long-term relationship with Big Red, you’ll be able to buy the Motorola Droid 4 for $549.99.

Since the smartphones run identical software, the new update has the same number version for both of them (6.12.173), and brings the same enhancements, including: improved data throughput performance in low-signal 4G areas, Mobile Hotspot improvements, Visual Voice Mail updates, and improved stability.

In the meantime, you get a minor update thing (version 55.13.25) focused on wiping some bugs and enhancing some performance aspects. The picture taking experience is improved, Google Music is preinstalled, some Motorola apps have been renamed, some security patches are in, emergency alert receiving is now more reliable, the keyboard is better, and the mobile hotspot functionality as well as the Webtop have been made more stable.

That’s it, folks. The update should reach your Atrix 2 over-the-air at which point the phone will notify you to download and install it. If you’re impatient, you can always go to Settings > About phone > System updates and manually check if the update is available for you. If it isn’t, wait a few days and it should magically appear.

Today we get a leaked screengrab of Verizon’s Equipment Guide that clearly states that February 10 will be when the launch will happen in “all channels”. One day later than previously thought isn’t that bad after all. And since this apparently comes straight from Verizon, unless the carrier decides to delay the launch at the last minute, February 10 it will be for the Droid 4.

The Motorola Droid 4 should cost $199.99 with a new two-year contract, if the latest price-related leak is to be believed. Anyway, since February 10 is next Friday, we’ll find out soon enough, one way or the other.

If we’re to believe Droid-life (which is usually a reliable source), Verizon is currently planning to introduce the Droid 4 on February 9 – next Thursday. As previously reported, the Droid 4 should cost $199.99 on contract, $100 less than the Motorola Droid Razr Maxx, which was released on January 26.

However, the Defy Mini has been approved by the FCC today, with WCDMA 850 and 1900 connectivity in tow – hence it may be released by AT&T in the US, or by Canada’s largest mobile carriers. We’ll let you know if we hear anything official about this.

And here we are. One year has passed, and during this time Motorola has done nothing in this matter. Until today, that is, when the company indirectly let us know what its answer to the whole locked/unlocked bootloader controversy is.

Unlike HTC, which provides a tool that unlocks the bootoader for many existing phones, Motorola has decided that selling a “Developer Edition” of the new RAZR, for example, will be something that people will appreciate. We don’t think they will, especially those who already bought a ‘plain’ RAZR hoping that Moto will provide them with an easy way to unlock their bootloaders, but anyway.

The Motorola RAZR Developer Edition, with unlockable bootloader, is now available to pre-order in Europe for €499. There’s no telling when it will start shipping, but Motorola promises that this smartphone will make it to the US as well “in the coming months”.

This Developer Edition phone ships with no warranty whatsoever (though we’re doubting that doing that is fully legal in the EU).

Motorola is apparently “continuing to explore the possibility of offering additional devices with unlockable bootloaders in the future”.

So there you have it. In short: want to tinker with your Motorola phone Android-style? Get a Developer Edition unit.

These Xyboard tablets are basically just Droid Xyboard units sans the mobile data connectivity and without any Verizon branding. They were initially supposed to ship during the week of January 18 (so last week), but better late than never.

Just to recap, the Xyboard 10.1 is available in 16 GB (for $499.99) and 32 GB (for $599.99) variants, as is its little brother, the Xyboard 8.2. In the latter’s case, the pricing is $399.99 if you need 16 GB of built-in storage, and $499.99 for double that amount.

First off, the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, the latest ‘pure Google’ phone can now be had for just $99.99 with a new two-year contract. That pricing is in midrange phone territory, which makes buying a Galaxy Nexus now a no-brainer. Especially if you care about your Android smartphone getting all the updates first. This offer is available now at Amazon, for new customers.

Next up, we have the Motorola Droid RAZR MAXX. This has only been available for a few hours, yet it’s already seen its price cut by no less than $70. It can now be had at Wirefly for just $229.99 and Amazon for $199.99. You’ll still need to sign a new two-year contract, but for a device being on the market less than a day, that’s a great deal. And don’t forget that the RAZR MAXX has a huge 3,300 mAh battery, which means it’s in a league of its own when it comes to battery life, at least compared to other Android devices with LTE support.

In other (but obviously related) Verizon news, Droid-life is reporting that the Motorola Droid 4 will cost $199.99 on contract, not $249.99, as previously believed. It remains to be seen if this is true – we don’t know when exactly the Droid 4 will be released, but it should happen pretty soon.

Of course, Amazon is also selling the Photon 4G for just $49.99, so you may as well buy it from there. That, of course, if you don’t want to wait for Sprint’s newest smartphones – the Samsung Galaxy Nexus and the LG Viper (which will be the carrier’s first two LTE handsets).

Launched by Sprint back in August 2011, the Motorola Photon 4G runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread, and features a 4.3 inch qHD (960 x 540) display, 1GHz dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM, 8MP rear camera with 720p video recording, VGA front-facing camera, 16GB of internal memory, and microSD card support.

So the carrier announced that the RAZR MAXX will be available this Thursday (yes, January 26) in Verizon stores and online for $299.99 with a new two-year contract.

Aside from the 3,300 mAh battery (which still manages to keep the device under 9 mm thin), there’s nothing new here compared to its even thinner brother. It does however come with 32 GB of storage (16 GB internal and a 16 GB microSD card preinstalled. That’s the same arrangement currently available in the plain RAZR selling for the same $299.99 (a $199.99 version of that phone is now out but comes sans preinstalled microSD card). If the original RAZR won’t see a price cut, at the same price, picking one of these handsets will be all about what you value most – thinness or battery life.

In addition to making the Droid 3 cheaper, today Verizon has launched the original Motorola Droid Razr in purple. Like the black and white editions, the 16GB version of the purple Razr can be yours for $199.99 on contract. The 32GB Razr (only in black) is available, too, for $299.99 on contract.

We already know that the new Droid Razr Maxx should be launched on January 26 (for $299.99). It remains to be seen if Verizon and Motorola decide to introduce the Droid 4 the same day. It would be nice.

Does that mean it won’t be out on January 26? No, not really. In fact, we’ve got even more evidence that this is the handset’s launch date.

Droid-life has managed to obtain a Razr Maxx Equipment Guide page, which reads that the device will “launch on all channels on January 26.” So, there you have it: in less than a week, the Razr Maxx with its huge 3300 mAh battery will hit the shelves.

The Motorola Droid Razr Maxx will cost $299.99 on contract, coming with Android Gingerbread (upgradeable to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich), and all the features the original Droid Razr has. The difference between the two devices is the aforementioned 3300 mAh battery, which should be capable of providing up to 21 hours of talk-time on a single charge.

At the moment, Carphone Warehouse is offering the Wi-Fi-only Xoom for just £249.99, and at that price this is starting to have ‘bargain’ written all over it. After all it’s still very capable hardware, and it’s approaching the price range of ‘budget’ Android tablets which usually come with all sorts of compromises with regard to performance.

The Xoom may have launched a long time ago, but most of the Android tablets released last year have near identical specs. If you’re interested in picking up a Xoom Wi-Fi, head to Carphone Warehouse over here.

That’s because two online retailers have started taking pre-orders for the device. Both Unlocked Mobiles and Clove will happily take your money for the white RAZR.

At Unlocked Mobiles, the price is £424.97, and the shipping date is clearly listed as February 22. Yes, you still have over a month to wait, but at least if you pre-order you’ll know that your white RAZR will be coming fresh from the first batch of units dispatched to the UK.

Over at Clove, the situation is similar. The price is £430.80, and shipping is estimated to begin in mid-to-late February. Which doesn’t mean it won’t happen on the 22nd – after all, that falls right inside the projected time frame.

So if you’re in the UK and are desperate to have a white Motorola RAZR, head on over to either Unlocked Mobiles or Clove now and pre-order one.

The update is about 81 MB in size and will bring your Xoom up to Android build version IML77. The update shall arrive over-the-air, and as such your tablet will notify you when it becomes available. As always with these things, the rollout may be staggered, meaning that it may take a few days (at least) for the update to reach your particular unit. Even more than that, we’re guessing, if you’re outside the US and/or you have a Xoom with mobile data connectivity (since in that case your carrier probably has to accept the update as well).

Still, it’s on its way starting today, and that can only be good news. By the way, Settings > About tablet > System updates is your friend in case you’re feeling lucky.

Retailer Clove is currently taking pre-orders for the Motoluxe, asking £258 (about $396) for a SIM-free unit. The smartphone should become available in late February or early March.

Verizon also said that the white and purple editions of the Droid Razr would cost $199.99, too, but only starting January 23 (the white Razr 32GB is currently $299, while the purple one isn’t out yet).

These price cuts are likely a sign that we’ll see the new Motorola Droid Razr Maxx hitting the shelves pretty soon (probably on January 26). The Razr Maxx will cost $299.99 on contract, coming with a huge 3,300 mAh battery that’s capable of providing up to 21 hours of talking one a single charge.

The phone is now up for pre-order in the UK in SIM-free and unlocked form, courtesy of Clove. The price you’ll have to pay to get this little rugged device? £174.99, VAT included. That’s certainly not much compared to the high-end smartphones of today, but this is a lower-midrange unit after all. Though that may be compensated by its sheer ruggedness. You be the judge.

Anyway, if you’re interested, go to Clove now and get in line for a Defy Mini. Shipping is expected to occur either in late February or early March. Unfortunately we don’t have a more concrete release date just yet, but we’ll let you know when that’s announced.

Unfortunately for Japanese customers, although Motorola said an update to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich for the Razr would arrive this quarter, the smartphone is headed to Japan with Android Gingerbread on board (but, of course, it will get ICS sometime after launch).

In case you don’t know yet, the Motorola Razr is only 7.1mm thin, and features a 4.3 inch qHD Super AMOLED display, water repellant coating, KEVLAR fiber, Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth 4.0, 8MP rear camera with 1080p video recording, 1.3MP front-facing camera, 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM, 16GB of on-board memory, and a 16GB memory card preinstalled.

Since the Razr Maxx should become available on January 26, we might see the Droid 4 hitting the shelves the same day.

Anyway, until we hear something official regarding the Droid 4’s launch, you can buy the Droid 3 here at Verizon. Or, it’s still available for a penny on Amazon.

When finally released, the Motorola Droid 4 will come with Android 2.3 Gingerbread (upgradeable to Android 4.0 ICS), a 4 inch qHD display, 5-row sliding QWERTY keyboard, splash resistant casing, LTE connectivity, 8MP rear camera with 1080p video recording, 1.3MP front-facing camera, 1GB of RAM, 1.2GHz dual-core processor, and 16GB of internal memory.  The new smartphone will most likely cost $249.99 on contract.

The Razr Maxx will cost $299.99 on contract – $50 more than the Droid 4, the other new LTE smartphone announced alongside it (we don’t know when this one is going to be out).

With its huge 3,300 mAh battery, the Motorola Droid Razr Maxx promises to deliver unrivaled autonomy – up to 21 hours of talk-time on one full charge. The smartphone will run Android Gingerbread at launch, but an update to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich is going to be rolled-out at some point.

Besides the fact that it’s a bit thicker (8.99mm) because of the larger battery, the Razr Maxx is identical to the original Droid Razr, so it features a 4.3 inch qHD Super AMOLED display, splash-resistant case, 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 8MP rear camera with 1080p video recording, and 2MP front-facing camera.

The i940 runs an unspecified version of Android, and features a 3.5 inch display (unknown resolution – it’s probably HVGA), Wi-Fi, GPS, stereo Bluetooth, 3.5mm headset jack, noise cancellation technology, Nextel Email, 5MP rear camera, and MicroSD card support.

Since Sprint plans to phase out its iDEN network starting next year, I don’t know if the Motorola i940 will have the time (or any strong reason) to make it to the US market.

According to Droid-life and a screenshot of Verizon’s Equipment Guide, the purple Razr should be available via all channels starting January 23.

As previously announced, the purple Razr will cost $199.99 on contract.

Meanwhile, Verizon still didn’t say when exactly the Droid 4 and Droid Razr Maxx would be released. There’s a chance that at least one of them will be out on January 23, too, but let’s not bet our money on that yet.

Starting on January 15, though, you’ll be able to get a Photon 4G from Sprint for just $99.99 (after a $50 mail-in rebate). That’s according to the leaked info you can see below courtesy of SprintFeed. It’s certainly a good price for what’s still a plenty capable phone, however if you want to buy a Photon 4G you should probably do it at Amazon.

That’s because the well known third-party retailer has it right now for just $49.99 with the same two-year Sprint contract. Furthermore, there are no pesky mail-in rebates to fiddle with when buying from Amazon.

If you’re upgrading, Amazon’s price is $79.99, which is also very decent. If you’re interested in picking up a Photon 4G from Amazon, just go here.

The Motorola Photon 4G has a 4.3-inch qHD (960×540) touchscreen, a 1 GHz dual-core Nvidia Tegra 2 processor, an 8 MP rear camera with 720p HD video recording, a VGA front-facing camera for video calls, 1 GB of RAM, 16 GB of built-in storage, microSD card support, and all the usual connectivity options.

Both the Motorola Droid 4 and the LG Spectrum should be able to roam on any CDMA or GSM network worldwide. In fact, we’ve previously heard that the Spectrum would be a world phone, and were sad to see that gone unmentioned in the phone’s official announcement.

This feature of course is nothing new for Verizon, after all it’s been selling global roaming devices for a while now. But these are the first LTE-capable phones to feature that functionality.

Except it’s not turned on yet. So the hardware is there, and Verizon is apparently now working on a few network enhancements so it can actually enable this function. That’s according to Verizon spokeswoman Brenda Raney, who spoke to Phone Scoop.

The carrier expects the global roaming support to become available for the aforementioned two smartphones at some point this year, most likely before the end of June.

So there you go. Yet another reason to buy the LG Spectrum or Motorola Droid 4?

Thanks to a Verizon MAP (minimum advertised price) list sent to Droid Life, we now know that the Motorola Droid 4 will be sold for $249.99 with a new two-year contract. The price point is hardly unexpected, as this is a high-end device. In fact, we’re quite thrilled that Big Red didn’t go for $299.99 on this one.

MAP lists are usually very accurate, so we don’t expect there to be any surprises regarding pricing. As for when you’ll be able to buy a Droid 4, stay tuned. We’re hoping that will be leaked soon too, as Verizon is clearly intent on staying mum on the details.

The upcoming smartphones will use the Intel Atom Medfield chipset – already used by Lenovo for its China-bound K800 Android handset.

The Moto – Intel collaboration should also include tablets, and aims to “deliver products that have the high performance, long battery life and convenience necessary for increasingly mobile lifestyles.”

“We are delighted to be partnering with Intel to deliver smartphones and tablets based on Intel’s Atom processor to consumers and businesses. Though there are 5 billion mobile subscribers in the world, less than 800 million are using a smartphone today. Not long ago, we’ve heard that LG would announce an Intel-based Android smartphone at CES 2012, but that didn’t happen. Anywyay, we’re looking forward to seeing what Moto and Intel have to offer later this year.

The Droid 4 page (accessible here) doesn’t just provide info on the features of the new smartphone, but also lets users register for updates.

Meanwhile, Verizon still hasn’t said how much the Droid 4 would cost. It will probably go for $299 on contract, since the Droid 3 is currently offered for $199.

For the moment, the Moto Droid Razr Maxx doesn’t appear at DroidDoes. Could this mean it will be released after the Droid 4? We have no idea, but we’ll let you know when we hear more regarding the availability of these two new LTE Droids.

As expected, the new Droids are the Motorola Droid 4 and the Motorola Droid Razr Maxx.

Presented as “the thinnest and most powerful 4G LTE QWERTY smartphone”, the Droid 4 is not at all a mystery to us, as we’ve already seen what it has to offer quite a few times until now. Verizon says the Droid 4 will be released “in the coming weeks”, so that rumored February 2 launch date could be accurate. There’s no official word on the price, but it’s probably going to be $299.99 on contract.

As for the Motorola Droid Razr Maxx, this is essentially a thicker Droid Razr (8.99 mm), because it accommodates a larger battery which “lets customers talk on the phone for more than 21 hours straight on a single charge.” Well, that certainly is a bold statement.

Like the Droid 4, the Droid Razr Maxx (pictured below) will be out in the coming weeks. It will cost $299.99 on contract.

The original Droid Razr will get a color refresh: purple – in addition to the black and white versions that are already available. All three versions will cost $199.99 on contract – presumably only after the Droid 4 and Droid Razr Maxx are launched (since right now the black and white Razrs are still $299.99).

Another Droid-related bit of news from Verizon: the Droid 4, Droid Razr, Droid Razr Maxx and the Droid Xyboard tablets will all be updated to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich sometime later this year.

Android devices aside, the largest US mobile carrier has also announced the BlackBerry Curve 9370 (which was initially supposed to arrive in November).

The Curve 9370 will be available online and in Verizon stores starting January 19. It will cost $99.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate (on contract, of course), featuring a 2.44 inch display with 480 x 360 pixels, full QWERTY keyboard, Wi-Fi, NFC, GPS, Bluetooth, 800MHz processor, a 5MP rear camera with flash, and a 2GB memory card pre-installed. The 9370 currently runs BlackBerry OS 7, but it will be updated to the new BlackBerry OS 7.1, alongside the Bold 9930 and the Torch 9850.

The prices being asked are $399 for the 16 GB Xyboard 8.2, $499.99 for the 32 GB Xyboard 8.2, $499.99 for the 16 GB Xyboard 10.1, and $599.99 for the 32 GB Xyboard 10.1. That’s on par with Apple’s iPad 2 pricing, which isn’t really that good for Motorola and its tablet sales.

But die-hard Moto fans (if there are any of those out there) should be happy that they can now buy a Xyboard without needing to be tied down to a two-year service agreement with Verizon. In case you are one of those people and would like to pre-order your Xyboard now, just hit this link. Shipping is expected to happen during the week of January 18. So with some luck, in about ten days you’ll have your new tablet at your doorstep if you pre-order now.

Usually, a DLNA certification means an announcement is about to follow – and, well, it really should, since we’ve heard that the new Droid would hit the market on February 2.

It’s quite possible that Verizon will unveil the Moto Droid 4 next week at CES. We’ll see.

Designed to look like a Droid Razr with sliding QWERTY keyboard, the Motorola Droid 4 features a 4 inch qHD display, LTE connectivity, 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM, 8MP rear camera with 1080p video recording, and an HD front-facing camera. It remains to be seen if the handset will run Android Gingerbread or Android Ice Cream Sandwich at launch.

Meet the Motorola XT535, recently spotted in China, and looking almost like the above-mentioned Defy Mini.

The XT535 is bigger, though (measuring 115.0 × 58.0 × 11.9 mm), and has a FWVGA (854 x 480) display, not an HVGA one. Also, the unannounced handset has a 5MP rear camera instead of a 3.2MP one, and a Qualcomm MSM7227A processor – possibly clocked at 800MHz (the Defy Mini only has a 600MHz CPU).

Unfortunately, for now we don’t know what Motorola’s plans regarding the XT535 are. It could announce it as a new member of the Defy family, of course. We’ll let you know when we hear more on this.

The Motoluxe is a renamed Motorola XT615 (previously announced only for Taiwan and China). It’s only 9.8mm thin, and comes with Android 2.3.7 Gingerbread, a 4 inch FWVGA edge-to-edge display, HSDPA, Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth 3.0, 8MP rear camera with LED flash, VGA front-facing camera, 512MB of RAM, 1GB of ROM, 800MHz processor, and “a lanyard slot that has a lighting effect. So you can see when you’ve missed a call, received a text or have an email waiting for you.”

The Motorola Defy Mini (aka XT320) runs Android 2.3.6 Gingerbread and – just like the big Defy – is dustproof, waterproof, and scratchproof. Its features include a 3.2 inch HVGA display, 3G, Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth 2.1, 3.2MP rear camera, VGA front-facing camera, 512MB of RAM, 512MB of ROM, and a 600MHz processor.

The Motoluxe and the Defy Mini will be available starting February in Europe, Latina America and greater China, for priced that haven’t been announced. Motorola will showcase both handset at CES 2012 next week. Promo videos for the two devices are embedded below:

Unfortunately we have no details about pricing yet, but the most likely scenario is that you’ll find it similarly priced to Bell and Virgin Mobile (which ask $159 with a three-year contract, and $649 outright).

Also in just one week another high-end Android-powered smartphone will land at Fido – the Motorola RAZR. This is already available at Rogers.

Fido will be asking $100 for the RAZR with a new three-year contract. We don’t know the no-contract price yet, but it should be similar (if not identical) to Rogers’ $649.99.

Until the handset gets to be officially introduced, maybe you’re curious to see what it looks like when standing next to the iPhone 4S.

TechnoBuffalo has managed to get a Droid 4 demo unit, and photographed it alongside Apple’s smartphone. As expected, the new Droid’s sliding keyboard makes the device thicker than the iPhone 4S. The Droid 4 is also taller, since it has a 4 inch display, not just a 3.5 inch one like the iPhone.

In other Droid 4 news, accessories for it have started to show up at Cellular Plus (a Verizon premium retailer), so maybe Motorola and Verizon will announce the handset at CES 2012 (10 – 13 January)? We’ll see next week if this happens or not.

Now Verizon seems to have realized that those prices were too high (especially since they all require a new 2-yr contract agreement). So it decided to offer each of the Xyboard models (8.2 16GB, 8.2 32GB, 10.1 16GB, 10.1 32GB, and 10.1 64GB) for $50 less.

You can go here at Verizon to choose any of the Xyboards right away.

Both the Motorola Xyboard 8.2 and Xyboard 10.1 feature dual-core processors, and run Android 3.2 Honeycomb (but will most probably be updated to Ice Cream Sandwich next year).

The update is obviously going to reach your RAZR over-the-air. So your phone should just notify you when it’s available (if it hasn’t done so already). Then you can install it without using a computer. After applying the update, your phone will be on software version 651.73.30.

The update will be out in the Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden, and the UK. Additionally, SFR customers in France and T-Mobile customers in Germany are also going to receive it.

It improves camera performance, adds a new Smart Rule trigger (‘motion detection’), comes with new security features, improves call performance, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, and makes localisations better. The update also comes with the Evernote app preinstalled.

But Best Buy seems to have thought that the Droid 4 should’ve been out by now, since it has included it in its latest Rewards Zone promo. Theoretically, and had the Droid 4 been launched, you could have upgrade to it and get “5000 bonus points ($100 in reward certificates)”.

This Best Buy promo, as well as the fact that the Droid 4 seems to have been ready to make an appearance at DroidDoes.com for quite a while now, could mean that Verizon wanted to introduce the handset before the end of the year, but ultimately decided to postpone the launch. One reason for this may be that VZW and Motorola want the new Droid to run Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich from day one – we’ll see soon if it happens or not.

But it looks like the largest US mobile carrier has prepared pretty much anything is needed for the launch of the new smartphone.

We’ve already reported that the Droid 4 was spotted over at the DroidDoes website (although it’s not there anymore, of course). The Motorola Droid 4 will come with a sliding QWERTY keyboard, LTE, 4 inch qHD Gorilla Glass display, 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 8MP rear camera with 1080p video recording, and Android Gingerbread (or maybe it will run Android 4.o Ice Cream Sandwich from day one – let’s hope for that).
