I have almost never used Mobile Internet services on my cellphone. With the dismal navigation interfaces on the phones, Mobile Internet was just too hard for me. Until I tried Netvibes2Go. Now I use it almost every day.

With Netvibes2Go I don’t have to surf the mobile net with my phone anymore, I don’t have to switch between different app’s and sites to check E-mail, Calendar or ToDo list. Everything is there, on Netvibes2Go. I just connect, scroll down to the item I need and I’m set. Here’s how the Netvibes2Go service works.

First, to get the most of Netvibes2Go, you have to configure your Netvibes Desktop on the PC for mobile use. This is done by creating a new tab, called “mobile” on your regular Netvibes desktop and putting compatible modules and feeds in it.

The list of compatible modules includes – iCal, ToDo List, Web Note, GMail, Yahoo! Mail, Hotmail, AOL Mail, PopMail, Feeds, Weather, Web search and Blog search. And you can add any RSS or Atom feed you want. That’s it. Now you are ready to use Netvibes2Go service on your mobile phone.

To connect to the service you should go to the address: http://m.netvibes.com and login with you regular Netvibes e-mail/user name and password. After logging in, the “mobile” tab with all the compatible modules and feeds loads and you can start using the service.

As a test I have set-up such a tab with WebSearch, BlogSearch, ToDo List, Webnote, Calendar, GMail and Weather modules. Most of these modules, like ToDo List, Webnote, Calendar are read only on the phone and you have to edit them on your PC. But some, like Web or Blog search have text entry fields and you can perform searches from your handset. E-mail modules let you read your incoming e-mails directly from Netvibes2Go and then allows you to connect to your mail account for further actions.

Other Netvibes modules, that were not on mobile compatible modules list, such as Flickr Photos, Analog time, Sudoku, Video, Finance, Google Calculator etc; did not load at all, but did not cause any problems either. So if you want to add some modules that are not on compatible list, you can try doing that. They may work or they may not, but the worst thing that can happen – they won’t load at all.

You can also add any feed you like to your “mobile” tab and they will show on your phone without a problem. Just like on the regular Netvibes, each feed has it’s own container with feed headlines. When you press on the headline you are taken to the entry text page. The only difference here is, that mobile version provides unformatted text feed. All the pictures, formatting and links are dropped.

So now, with Netvibes2Go, I have most of the things I frequently use on the Net, conveniently arranged in one place. The net navigation becomes a none issue, I just scroll up or down to whatever item and service I need. Incoming mail? It’s here on Netvibes. Today’s appointments? Also here. Weather Forecast, ToDo list? Here.

And, when a girlfriend is late for half an hour, instead of mulling around, cursing and pulling my hair, I just take out my Samsung D830, login into Netvibes2Go, scroll down to the feed I like and try to catch up will all the reading I missed.
