Nokia’s lips have been sewn shut so far about its forthcoming Nokia E71, a high-end business phone for the E-Series which will supposedly carry the original NokiaBerry’s square and flat form factor, with added multimedia and navigational functionality. It’s literally been months since the first Nokia E71 spy shots were leaked on the Internet, and it looks like Nokia is really taking its time with this new device.

However it looks like things are about to change, and Nokia might be making an official announcement (or maybe even an official release) some time this week. On May 8, 2008 specifically.

The latest reports about the Nokia E71 have us looking at May 8 as the possible launch date from Nokia, partly due to it making appearances in various Dutch online web stores recently.

Apparently, the Nokia E71 is even listed with official specs, which says it will have the following dimensions: 112 x 57 x 10 mm. If this is true, Nokia has outdone itself this time, ably cramming a lot of high-end features in a body that’s only 10mm thin.

If you recall, we confirmed that the Nokia E71 will have a 3.2 megapixel auto-focus camera, GPS navigation, built-in WiFi and HSDPA network support. Knowing that it’s only 10mm thin is truly mind-boggling, and if May 8 is really the official launch date, we expect more minds to be boggled by this upcoming number in Nokia’s business handset lineup.

We’ll keep an eye out on this news story for you and will make sure to give the latest updates pronto.

The as of yet unannounced Nokia E71 business handset has been leaked once again via spy shots across the Internet, this time with another upcoming E-series handset which could be the fabled Nokia E66. So now we have two “unofficial” E-series Nokia’s that look set to change how business-minded phones should look like and be capable of.

The Nokia E77 was first leaked earlier this year, with a lone spy shot with a small list of reasonable specs: 3.5G HSDPA connectivity, 3.2 megapixel main camera, built-in GPS and Wi-Fi connectivity.

And now we have additional details about this new phone, specifically about its form and the camera module that it sports. The Nokia E71, if the rumors hold true, will have an autofocus lens with the LED-flash complemented camera on its back. It will stand at 11mm thick, which is slightly thinner than the E61i, but equally usable, I’m sure. A microSD card slot, GPS, WiFi, Bluetooth, and HSDPA, of course, are all in the details.

Along with these spy shots of the Nokia E77, we also found another handset entirely, and judging from its size, it looks like another QWERTY-keyboard equipped Nokia business phone. The placement of the camera is different and the back cover has a shiny finish to it, differentiating it from the Nokia E71 or E61i.

Rumors hail this phone as the Nokia E66, which ought to have about the same specs as the E71 (mentioned above – 3.2 megapixel cam with autofocus, GPS, Wi-Fi and HSDPA connectivity, expandable memory), but of course, this is still unofficial.

We’ll keep more details about the Nokia E71 and Nokia E66 coming as they become available.

In addition to the launch of Nokia N77 phone/mobile TV station, Nokia E90 communicator is being launched in Finland this week as well.

According to the interview given to E24.se news portal by Antti Vasara, General Manager of Mobile Devices Business Unit, Nokia E90 will start shipping in small quantities first in Finland, then Indonesia and will eventually reach Sweden this August.

When the rest of us will see this powerhouse of a cellphone is still not clear, since, according to Mr. Vasara, Nokia E90 Communicator is a pretty complicated piece of equipment and hard to produce in large quantities at first.

Other interesting bits of information that Mr. Vasara revealed in the interview were:

Nokia is not too enthusiastic about touchscreens, since all their tests had shown that users prefer keyboard and joystick for an input device. But they are ready for touchscreens if they see the demand

consumers don’t like to learn using new shapes/form factors on mobile phones. That’s why Nokia E70 isn’t selling well

but Nokia will be launching entirely new type of mobile next year

Looks like Nokia is taking a wait and see approach with the iPhone and LG Prada touchscreen phones and will have an answer if the sales of these handsets take off.

Can’t wait to see what this Nokia’s “entirely new type of mobile phone” will be.

At least that’s what FCC site tells us.

A flagship Nokia E90 communicator has been approved by FCC last Friday.

E90 is the first communicator to be included into the Nokia ESeries business smartphone line-up and it comes stuffed with almost everything that Nokia could think off. Like QWERTY keyboard, big 800×320px internal screen, GPS navigation, 3.2 Mpx camera, WLAN and HSDPA connectivity, office productivity applications, VoIP and video calling, Intellysinc Mobile suite and many other cool things.

Nokia E90 is expected to go on sale in Q2 of this year and should cost somewhere around $1000 before subsidies.

Another 3GSM goodie to be approved by FCC is the “worlds thinnest phone”, Samsung U100 Ultra Edition 5.9. Samsung U100 is a triband (900/1800/1900) EDGE/GPRS phone that comes with 3 megapixel camera, multimedia player, Bluetooth connectivity and is only 5.9 mm thin.

It should go on sale also sometime in Q2 2007.

So Nokia is finally getting thin religion too. First to get the “thin makeover” was MotoKRZR K1 and Motorola RAZR competitor, Nokia Nseries N76 clamshell cellphone/multimedia computer.

Now it’s Nokia E65 E-series business slider, targeting the same market segment as Samsung D900 and up-coming Samsung V960 slider phones. Recently leaked, fresh photos and some specs, courtesy of Terminal.hu, show that Nokia E65 will be one cool slider:

And here’s what we managed to find out about Nokia E65:

Dimensions: 106mm (L)x 47mm (W)x 14mm (T)
Weight: 140 g
Quad Band (850/900/1800/1900 MHz)
GPRS, EDGE, Wi-Fi, BlueTooth, IrDA connectivity

No HSDPA
2 Megapixel Camera
70 MB Internal Memory
MicroSD card slot

While all of these specs are speculative for now, the E65 smartphone looks like a finished product already and should be launched in February, during 3GSM Conference in Barselona.
