Nokia 7500 L’Amour collection phone should be here within a month. And FCC tells us that it’s a 2.5G triband (GSM900/1800/1900) handset with GPRS, EGPRS and bluetooth connectivity.

Another very similar handset – Nokia 7900, may be in the works too. At least that’s what NokiaPort.de forum member is claiming:

Except for the number, Nokia 7900 looks exactly like Nokia 7500 candybar, except for the 3G UMTS connectivity. And the specs in the picture also doesn’t seem to be 100% correct. 30h standby time is clearly a typo. And hhy on earth they Nokia will put 1.3 mpx camera on a 3G phone, when it plans 2 mpx camera on a 2.5G version?

Or why should Nokia be releasing 2 different generation phones that look exactly the same ?

Well. I guess we’ll have to wait until July for the answers.

Last few days Nokia has been busy readying a number of it’s cellphones for American market and getting them approved by FCC.

First one is Nokia 6315i CDMA 1xEVDO clamshell phone with two LCD screens, built-in 1.3 megapixel camera, GPS, speaker phone and voice activated dialing. Nokia 6315i also has Bluetooth, USB port and is able to use Video on demand and Music on demand services, can play MP3 and video files. Judging from the pictures on FCC Nokia 6315i is customized for Verizon Wireless.

Announced just last week Nokia 5500 sports phone today has been also approved by FCC. In addition to the usual 2 megapixel camera, Mp3 player, micro MMC card slot and other things that a good cellphone has to have these days, Nokia 5500 sport is designed with the exercising user in mind. It has three different modes of operation -”phone”, “music” and “sports” that you can select with a press of a single button. “Phone” and “Music” modes are self explanatory so we won’t get into details, the most interesting here is the “Sport” mode. It uses built in pedometer that can be enhanced with optional Bluetooth GPS module and special software to monitor and record your exercise, track distances and speed. Nokia 5500 has stainless steel casing with splash and dust resistant shell and a neat “text to speech” function that will read you SMS messages aloud.

And the last one to be approved by FCC is Nokia N7370 fashion phone from Nokia L’mour collection. Nokia N7370 comes in distinct beautifully crafted golden and coffee brown color schemes that will set you apart in any cellphone chatting crowd. It has 1.3 megapixel camera with 8x digital zoom, MP3 ringtones, QVGA (320×240) LCD screen, FM radio and two stereo loudspeakers for quality sound and 3D sound effects. The only shortcoming that Nokia 3730 has is it’s small memory – only 10MB built-in an no possibility for external memory card.

This cell phone was designed to get you noticed. With “lipstick” shape, golden colors and mirror surface it clearly stands out from the crowd. The most distinct feature of this mobile is the lack of keyboard. Instead you get iPodesque scroll wheel to dial the numbers. It can seem a little strange, but becomes acceptable once you get used to it. But the same thing can not be said about messaging. Scroll wheel is not a very good design for text entry, therefore you will be calling much more then texting with this phone.

Nokia 7370 is a mid range phone from it’s L’amour collection. Designed with a fashion conscious user in mind it doesn’t disappoint. Coming with beautifully crafted golden and coffee brown calor schemes it clearly stands out in a crowded mid-range cellphone field. It’s the first Nokia phone to abandon flip phone form factor in favor of swivel design similar to the Sony Ericsson W900i model. It comes with all standard multimedia feature for this class, including 1.3 megapixel camera with 8x digital zoom, MP3 ringtones and better then average QVGA (320×240) LCD display and FM radio. One interesting feature, not seen in any other similar mobiles is two stereo loudspeakers covered with metallic grids and able to produce good quality sound and some 3D sound effects. However the phone carries only 10MB of built-in memory with no memory card slot, so your ability to store mp3 files and photos is very limited on this handset.
Full specs of this cell phone include:

If you are searching for a great looking candy bar cell phone mainly for talking, occasional photo and some data transfer, this might be a great choice. Otherwise it is too basic. You will not be able to get good photos with 0.3 megapixel camera. Only 4 megabytes non-upgradable memory will significantly limit what you can do with data and single MP3 ringtone will probably fill it to the limit.

At the end of 2004 Nokia started a new trend of mobile phones with it’s art deco inspired Fashion Collection line. It featured Nokia 7260, 7270 and 7280 models. They were very well received among fashion conscious consumers. But what is new and trendy in 2004 is old and lame in 2006. Today these phones feel pretty outdated both in their features and design.

Don’t worry, when the novelty wears off and sales slump, we can count on Nokia to come up with something new. Here comes L’Amour collection.

In February Nokia started shipping it’s new fashion phones, announced last October. This is a direct continuation of Fashion Collection line, keeping the general style, design features and even the numbering scheme. To keep it fresh Nokia’s designers selected new golden and coffee brown color schemes added some goodies like improved cameras, mp3 players, FM tuners and got the buzz going among the trend conscious crowds around the world.

The sibling of 7280, Nokia 7380 will definitely get you noticed. Keeping it’s sticky appearance it runs on Series 40, has triband GSM/GPRS, 2 megapixel camera with a flash, 204×104 pixel display, MP3 player and the same keyless dial feature you will have to get used to. It will retail at about €500 before carrier subsidies.

Nokia 7370 model is the most different from it’s predecessors. Nokia finally bowed to the public demand and departed from the flip phone form factor of 7270 towards swivel design. The phone features 1.3 megapixel camera with 8x zoom, 2-inch QVGA color screen (320 x 240 pixels), stereo speakers with 3D sound effects and video ring tones. This cell phone will be available for €300 before subsidies.

Low end of L’amour line is filled with Nokia 7360 model. Nokia didn’t bother adding any cool features to this phone. Instead it chose to keep the old 7260 platform intact only adding mp3 playing capability and bigger screen to it. Retailing at $200 before subsidies it’s a solid phone focused on the users who do not care much about additional goodies. Nokia 7360 comes with 0.3 megapixel VGA camera, 4MB of memory, FM radio player and is able to use mp3 as a ringtones.
