FOMA F903iBSC is a business version of a 3G FOMA F903i phone, announced by NTT DoCOMo today.

And as with most of the business versions of popular phones, I expected some feature enhancement, like additional productivity applications, more memory/storage, better connectivity options, etc;

Not so fast, says NTT DoCoMo. You don’t even need the features that the standard F903i has and we disabled them!

Yep. In order to “avoid information leakage NTT DoCoMo has turned off the camera, external memory, USB in and Infrared ports, e-wallet service and limited address book to 101 entries on FOMA F903iBSC.

And in order to focus all your attention on the job on hand, they have removed music player and all preinstalled Java applications.

If you lose the phone or leave the company without giving it up, NTT DoCoMo can reset all other functions such as phonebook, e-mail, scheduler, data-box, call records or screen memos remotely.

I guess FOMA F903iBSC will make paranoid company IT security chiefs happy, as for me, I will happily do without it
