Both of them are touchscreen phones that will probably be released in China pretty soon.

The Philips X806 is a 14mm thick phone that comes with features like: 3.5 inch TFT display with 240 x 400 pixels, 5MP camera, Bluetooth, FM radio, 47MB of internal memory and MicroSD card support.

Unfortunately, the phone only has quad-band GSM/GPRS connectivity. Well, at least it looks good:

Next, the Philips C702 is a CDMA 1X phone that seems to be heading to China Telecom (it has its logo on it).

The features of C702 include: 3.4 inch QVGA display, GPS, 1.3MP camera, Bluetooth, 70MB of internal memory and MicroSD card support.

We also have most of the specs of Philips V900, China Mobile’s Android smartphone seen back in August. The handset will come with quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE connectivity, a 3.2 inch HVGA touchscreen display, Wi-Fi, GPS, 3MP camera, 256MB of internal memory and MicroSD card support.

Featuring a full touchscreen display, the K700 is one of the few Philips handsets that don’t have an X in their name (although it’s part of the Xenium series).

Philips K700 comes with a 3.2MP camera and, most probably, with a battery that can last for at least one month in stand-by time.

The phone looks pretty cool, as you ca see in the image below:

Moving on, the X501 is a candybar that seems to be an upgrade of the Philips X500, appeared back in September 2008.

Not much is known about the X501, but we can see that it has a 2MP camera.

No word yet on when or where the Philips K700 and X501 will be available.

More and more Philips mobile phones have appeared lately, with this new Xenium X830 being the sixth that gets to be unveiled in 2009.

Like the X810 and the older X800, Philips Xenium X830 has a touchscreen display – a 240 x 400 pixels one with 262k colors, more exactly. The new X830 also features a 5MP autofocus camera with LED flash, apparently being the first Philips handset to have a camera with more than 3.2MP.

The phone certainly doesn’t look bad, although that light-brown color on the back kind or ruins its overall aspect.

The full specs of X830 include:

Quad-band GSM connectivity with EDGE (no 3G)

GPS

Wi-Fi

Bluetooth

Music player

FM radio with RDS

47MB of internal memory

MicroSDHC card support

105 x 53 x 15.5 mm

120 grams

Philips Xenium X830 should be soon available in China and Eastern Europe, for a price that was not announced.

I know that Philips handsets ain’t widely used in the Western hemisphere, but where available, they are liked by those looking for a simple phones with long battery times.

With 1 month+ of stand-by and talk times of 8hrs, Xenium line of phones has stood out on this issue among the peers, for several years now.

Well, there’s another extremely durable handset coming out soon – Philips Xenium X320.

In addition to a great battery life, Philips Xenium also comes with FM Radio and built-in FM telescopic antenna for it, so you don’t have to plug in your headset every time you you want to listen to radio.

The specs of Philips Xenium X320 include:

Tri-band GSM 900/1800/1900, GPRS/EDGE connectivity

2.2″ QVGA TFT Display

Camera 2 MP

FM radio with RDS

Built-in telescopic antenna for FM-radio

Bluetooth 2.0

microSD memory card slot

MP3-player

Battery 1050 mAh 850/8 h

Looking at specs, Philips Xenium X320 should be a rather affordable handset and will go after the users for whom Nokia 5030 XpressRadio or Sony Ericsson R300 are just a bit too simple.

Obviously, one of the new handset’s strongest points is its battery, which should last up to one month in stand-by.

Unfortunately, like most of the other Xenium phones, Philips X550 doesn’t have 3G connectivity, relying only on GPRS and EDGE for data transfers – that’s why it will probably be sold only in China and Eastern Europe.

Anyway, the handset looks really nice (images found via Mobile-review):

The phone’s features include:

QVGA display with 262k colors

Bluetooth

FM radio with RDS

3.2MP autofocus camera

MicroSD card support, up to 8GB

112 x 45 x 11.7 mm

Now word yet on the release date and the price of Philips X550.

Especially since the latest handset, Philips Xenium X810, is quite different from what we’re used to see coming out under this brand.

The X810 features a 240 x 400 pixels TFT touchscreen display with 262K colors, and a navigation pad that’s probably touch-sensitive.

Overall, the device looks nice, although, if its display had been bigger, its appearance would have been really impressive.

Its full specs include:

Quad band GSM connectivity with EDGE (no 3G)

3.2 MP camera with flash

Media player

Bluetooth

USB

45MB of internal memory

MicroSDHC card support

Up to one month of stand-by time

104 x 52 x 14.4 mm

100 grams

The release date of Philips Xenium X810 is not known for the moment, but the handset will probably be first available in China (perhaps coming as a replacement for the X800).

Only few days after we saw the Philips Xenium X530, we now have info about another new Philips clamshell: the Xenium X700.

Like most (if not all) Philips handsets, the X700 does not have 3G connectivity, so your data transfers will have to rely only on GPRS and EDGE.

However, there’s one big advantage that the phone offers - and that’s obviously the powerful battery, which can last up to 720 hours in stand-by (1 month), or up to 450 minutes in talk-time mode.

Here’s what the handset looks like:

The main specs and features of Xenium X700 include:

Quad-band GSM connectivity

2.4 inch TFT internal display with 240 x 320 pixels and 262K colors

2.0 inch TFT external QVGA display

3.2MP camera

Music / video player

Bluetooth 2.0

FM radio with RDS

103 x 54 x 15 mm

Philips Xenium X700 should be soon available in China and select European countries (like Russia, Romania and Turkey). Its retail price is said to be of around €170 ($220).

Since it’s from the Xenium series, the X530 comes with a long-lasting battery capable of providing up to 8 hours of talk-time or up to 850 hours of stand-by time.

The rest of its specs are pretty much on the entry-level side, but at least the phone looks good, both when closed and when flipped.

The full spec-list of Philips Xenium X530 includes:

Tri-band GSM/EDGE connectivity (900/1800/1900 MHz)

2.2 inch internal TFT display with 240 x 320 pixels and 262K colors

1 inch OLED external display

Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP

Music player

FM radio with RDS

2MP camera

NXP 5210 chipset

99.1 x 47.1 x 18 millimeters

The handset was recently approved by the FCC, but it will probably be commercialized only in Asia and Europe. No word yet on pricing.

For those who are looking for a fast yet cheap way to have a fine-looking phone, here comes the Philips 9@9q. That old phone model isn’t quite fit for the runway, but its recently introduced holiday edition counterparts, the Dragon and Phoenix, can both live up to any fashion-conscious user’s expectations.

For starters, both the Dragon and Phoenix look as polished as any phone can get, with smooth curves outlining its small clamshell body. The inclusion of a discreet external display on both of the phone’s flip sides make it easy for the user to check out information such as unread messages, missed calls, and remaining battery power.

Of course, its staple feature: 1 month of standby time and up 8 hours of talk time is also present, making these two phones among the longest lasting fashion-centric phones to be ever created. Both will cost 4999 Russian rubles or about $172 USD.

Philips mobile phones are known for coming with really powerful batteries, and the new Philips Xenium X500 is no exception.

This baby has a 1720 mAh battery that’s supposed to provide a talk-time of up to 16 hours or a stand-by time of no less than two months. Also, the battery should last up to 40 hours in music playback mode, so if you ever have a 2-day insomnia, the phone can surely keep you entertained (assuming you’re listening to “happy music” on it).

The X500 not only has a long-lasting battery, but also an attractive candybar design. Unfortunately, most of its specs are not exactly the ones to crave for, but I guess they won’t disappoint users who don’t search for the latest and greatest features.

So, the specs of Philips Xenium X500 are:

GSM/GPRS/EDGE connectivity (900 / 1800 / 1900 MHz)

10MB of built-in memory + microSD card support (2GB maximum)

106 x 42 x 17.8 millimeters

Philips Xenium X500 will first be commercialized across China, in the near future, and it’s said to also go to Russia and other Eastern European countries. The candybar’s price is not known for the moment.

We probably won’t be seeing Philips X800 full touchscreen handset here in Europe or U.S. anytime soon.

Philips left the European mobile market eons ago and sold off it’s mobile unit to Asian investors. And they concentrated on selling Philips mobiles over there.

Well, it’s a shame. But noting prevents us checking out the latest phones under a Philips brand from a far.

Their newest creation – Philips X800 has been reviewed by ePrice today, and looks really cool:

The specs on Philips X800 – tri-band GSM connectivity (900/1800/1900), 2 megapixel camera, 2.9″ 262K touchscreen and microSD memory card slot – are not too exciting.

Except for a battery stand-by time – Philips claims 850 hrs of it, which sounds mighty impressive. The talk time is not that high though – about 8 hrs, so I guess most of the savings are achieved through some clever energy conversation tricks, when inactive.

Still, Philips X800 looks like an interesting handset and I would love to see it sold outside of Asia too.

A far cry from its incredibly sexy “edge to edge” touchscreen phone, the Xenium X800 e2e, Philips introduces a new low-end handset that’s as basic as it gets. Not only does this phone do nothing else but facilitate calls and text messages, it also lacks a camera, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and obviously, a touchscreen.

The Philips 198 and Philips 199 are two variations of this new low-end handset, with the Philips 198 as the default handset model while the Philips 198 is the souped-up version featuring an inbuilt FM radio. Very high technology right there, eh?

The Philips 198 and 199 are going to have exactly the same design, measuring 99 x 42 x 13.5 mm and weighing only 65 grams. It has 3 embedded games to keep you company after meticulously typing away at its simple keypad with 4-way navigation key.

A miniUSB connectivity option is provided, although I can’t see why plugging this into a PC would help since it doesn’t have removable storage or any PC-related applications anyway. I ascertain that this could also be used to charge the 800mAh battery, though.

The Philips 198 and 199 should be available in a few months for about $62. Pretty affordable, if I may say.

Clothing and travel gear vendors have been creating various ways to make your garments work better with your portable devices for a while now.

The backpacks, jackets and other clothing items, and even shoes with solar cells and electronic/conductive interfaces are pretty well known, if niche products. The proliferation of various portable devices that we “must” have on us all the time further facilitates this trend.

And, if this Philips patent application for a “Smart Handbag” ever becomes a real product, it might solve the problem caused by carrying too many gadgets at the same time once an for all Especially for you, ladies.

And what problems are they? Well, Philips describes them in the patent application pretty well:

“… as individuals often have more than one portable electronic device upon which they rely, and as all such devices are powered by portable means (i.e., batteries), individuals typically must charge all the respective portable power means individually. The process associated with servicing all of the portable devices to ensure that they are readily usable can be time consuming and inconvenient, especially when individuals are required to service all of the devices at or about the same time. Additionally, when individuals utilize these different portable devices to communicate with other remote electronic devices, the process associated therewith is often a bother, typically requiring an individual to carry a number of different connecting accessories (e.g., battery chargers, transformers, adapters, etc.). Hence, the effective management of the various electronic devices/accessories in terms of space, efficiency and use can often be an arduous task and despite efforts to date, there is still a need for improving how portable electronic devices are serviced, accessed and/or otherwise managed.”

Enter Philips Smart Bag to the rescue:

To help you cope with the portable device overload, Philips Smart Handbag will come equipped with special pockets where to put all your gadgets and integrated power source to charge them. The device pockets will be connected to the power source via electric conductive circuit, integrated into a handbag fabric. The conductive fabric will also have a possibility to connect different device pockets among themselves, so your mobile phone can talk to your iPod and to your camera.

Another important part of the handbag, is it’s strap. Philips Smart Handbag strap will be used to connect the devices in the handbag and it’s power source to the electric grid, and also to connect the gadgets in the bag to the external ones. This is achieved by equipping the strap with necessary electric circuitry, making it detachable from the handbag, and putting USB or similar interface on one side of the strap and electric power connectors on the other.

Just take one end of the handbag strap, plug it into USB port on your PC and you can instantly see and manage your iPod and Blackberry sitting inside the handbag. Take another end of the strap, plug it into a wall socket – your bag battery, with all your devices are charging handsomely.

And, there’s one more thing. With current advances in e-ink technologies, flexible screens and garment electronics, why not put an additional control interface onto the same handbag strap. It can be just simple buttons to turn various functions on and off, but, when technology become available, it can also be some sort of flexible touchscreen for advance management and communication functions.

Or, this interface can just be a pluggable remote control, that you’ll carry in your pocket.

Toting only GPRS network support (Yes, 3G is a no-no and not even EDGE), 2 megapixel camera and ho-hum 2.9-inch screen, it doesn’t appear to be anywhere near the makings of an “iPhone Killer.”

Philips has not disclosed any details about pricing and availability as of this time’s writing, although the Xenium X800 handset is expected to be released exclusively for the Chinese market.

Well, well, well… Look who’s getting into a full touchscreen mobile phone game. It’s Philips, with a new Philips Xenium X800 e2e handset.

Actually, it’s not THAT Philips, but a former cellphone subsidiary of the Dutch CE giant, which is now fully owned by Chinese investors and has the right to use Philips name for a while still.

Apart from the news that it will be a full touchscreen phone , with the abbreviation of “e2e”, which means a touchscreen that stretches from “edge to edge”, not much is known about the new Philips Xenium e2e phone. Except for the pics (if they are the real deal):

The handsets under Philips Xenium brand are best known for some extraordinary battery time, so I guess that should also be a distinguishing feature of Xenium e2e. The pics indicate that this phone will come with Wi-Fi connectivity, which implies other high end features as well.

If this phone is real, much will depend on how well the touchscreen works and how well the touch UI is implemented. Which is no easy feat, as many iPhone wannabe’s can attest.

Still, it would be interesting to see what new can Philips bring to the full touch screen phone marketplace, which is getting crowded pretty quick this year.

The latest to wow the crowd from that part of the planet is the Philips M600, a candy bar shaped mobile phone that looks more musical than Miss Saigon. It features a very prominent music player key on top of the navigation pad, and three equally expressed music hot keys on the side. Finally, Philips seems to have gotten what it means to produce a handset that people will love.

The Philips M600, other than being a dual-band GSM phone, will sport a 3.5 mm headphone jack and support multiple Bluetooth profiles such as A2DP, Handsfree, Headset, and Object Push. Just as you would expect of a handset that’s promoted as music-centric, eh?

But what’s really special about this phone is that it will feature SRS WOW Technology, which according to its makers, “improves the dynamic audio performance of compressed audio, expands the size of the audio image and improves the perception of low frequency sound.” Now I’m not sure it would mean much for a non-audiophile like myself, but I’m willing to bet that they put the word WOW in there for a good reason, no matter how elusive.

Battery life is also billed at 40 hours per charge, which is praise-worthy, but I say let’s wait until we get some hands-on testing on the thing.

It’s got a 1.3 megapixel camera, an expandable MicroSD card slot and USB 1.1 connectivity. I don’t think Philips could’ve said the word low-end in a better way. It might not be certain when this phone will be sold outside of China, but it’s a distinct possibility. When it finally does, it might even sell like hotcakes – or not, and maybe a pirated version could hit your local retail store. You never know.

While not well known outside Asia and CIS countries, Philips Xenium phones are truly interesting mobile devices.

Their most distinguishing feature is amazing battery life. Even the first Philips Xenium 9@9 a/d/t phones could last more then a month on standby. With Xenium 9@9k , Philips was able to extend the standby time to two months.

Their new handset, Philips Xenium 9@9j, again pushes the boundary of power technologies in mobile phones. This time it’s not the durability of the phones. It’s a possibility to use standard AAA batteries to operate the device.

Philips Xenium 9@9j was first spotted during Mobile World Congres in Barcelona, but beyond it’s ability to use triple A batteries, not much was know about this handset.

Now, that Philips Xenium 9@9 was officially listed on Philips Asian sites, all it’s specs are out there too.

And again , innovative power management technologies take the center stage.

Philips uses technology called “backupower” to add AAA battery capability to Xenium 9@9j phone. The phone does not actually run on it. It comes with standard Li-Ion battery as well, and uses the latter for operation.

Triple A battery is used as a back-up. When standard Li-Ion runs out of steam, the backup battery starts feeding power to it, and you can continue using the phone uninterrupted.

A single AAA battery can add up to 2 hours of talk time and up to one week of standby to an already impressive 8 hrs talk/1 month of standby capabilities of Philips Xenium 9@9j.

Other Philips Xenium 9@9 specs include:

Quad band GSM (900/1800/1900/850 MHz)/GPRS connectivity

176×220 px 262K color TFT display

1.3 megapixel camera

MPEG4, 3GP, H.263 video and MP3 and WMA audio playback

FM Radio

MIcrSD memory card slot

USB 1.1, Stereo Bluetooth A2DP

And I have one question about the whole long lasting battery thing:

What’s so frigging special about Philips Xenium power tech, that no other major handset maker has been able to produce a phone that comes at least close to Xenium durability, in over a year?!!!!

Do you remember the last time you saw Philips mobile phone selling officially in western part of Europe? No? Me too.

While there are still some quite interesting and durable phones under Philips Xenium brand in Asia, Philips has withdrawn from European mobile market a long time ago.

They’ve even sold off their mobile phone division to Chinese contract manufacturer, with the rights of market the phones under the Philips brand until 2011.

Now it looks like the new owners are thinking about returning Philips cell phones to Europe. And they will start doing it the way China is famous for – entering new market with very basic and ultra-cheap product – Philips 192 candybar.

Czech mobile site Idnes.cz reports that Philips 192 first launch in Portugal. Other European markets may follow soon.

Philips 192 is a very basic dual band (900/1800) GSM phone with 128×128 px, 65K color CSTN display, 650 mAh battery that can last up to 10 days on stand-by, 104.5×45x12.8 mm dimensions and 59.7gr weight.

Philips 192 is expected to sell for under 40 Euro.

Philips isn’t the first brand that you think of when your are talking about mobile phones. Actually, except for some Asian countries and Russia, you’ll be hard pressed to find any Philips handsets on sale.

Too bad. Especially if you are looking for a simple, elegant phone without tons of bells and whistles, but which you don’t have to plug-in for charging every day. Because in Philips Xenium 9@9 line you might find just the phone for you.

We already told you about Philips Xeniums that can last a month on stand-by. And the new Philips Xenium 9@9k can stay on for two.

That’s right. Official Philips Xenium 9@9k mobile phone stand-by time is up-to 1440 hrs – that’s 60 days- and you can talk on it for 17 hrs non-stop too.

Otherwise Philips Xenium 9@9k is a basic and well designed 108×48x14 mm, tri-band GSM (900/1800/1900)/GPRS phone with 65K color TFT display, VGA camera, microSD memory card slot and Bluetooth.

A few days ago we have found 3 Philips Xenium phones with an amazing batery life – more then a month on standby.

All of them were in a candybar form factor. And what, if you don’t like these bricky phones? Well, now the Dutch consumer electronics giant also has a flipphone for you – Philips Xenium 9×9s:

Philips Xenium 9×9s comes with a bright 80 cd/m2 1.8″ 262K color OLED display that can hold 8 lines of text, 80×48 pixel secondary OLED display, supports polyphonic ringtones, AMR and Midi sound formats, has 1.3Mpx camera and 18MB of user memory.

It’s a triband GSM (900, 1800,1900 MHz) phone with GPRS support, that measures at 92.8 x 48 x 20.9 mm for a total volume 82cc and weight of 102.5 g.

Xenium 9×9s is a pretty basic clamshell with a limited data capability. However, if you are looking for a flipphone that can last forever without charging, Philips Xenium 9×9s might be just the thing.

Like other phones in Xenium line, it’s 950 mAh battery can last 30 days on stanby and has 8.5 hours of talking time.

You forgot to charge your cellphone or had a really long talk and your phone died in the middle of the conversation? Quite a familiar situation, isn’t it?

Now Philips has a solution for you. The phones that can stay up without charging for more then a month. That’s right Philips Xenium 9@9 phone line on standby can last up to 40 days.

There are 3 Xenium phones currently offered by Philips on its Hong-Kong site:

Philips Xenium 9@9a (pictured on the left) is the most basic of them but has the longest battery life, with talk time of up to 10 hrs and standby of 40 days. Except for battery life, it’s just a phone – it works on GSM 900/1800 networks, supports SMS, EMS, MMS and WAP. Xenium 9@9a has 65K color 128×12 px, 1.5″ OLED display, 2MB of internal memory, supports polyphonic ringtones and a phonebook with 1000 entries. This candybar phone measures at 99,7 x 43,5 x 19,2 mm and weights 86 g.

Philips Xenium 9@9d (in the center) is a more advanced phone which had to sacrifice some battery life for functionality. But not much. This phone still has up to 8.5 hrs of talk time and 1 month of standby. In addition to basic phone features Xenium 9@9d adds 65K 128×160 screen, 1.3 megapixel camera, JAVA 2.0 support, works on GSM 900, 1800 and 1900 networks, USB 1.1, Bluetooth and IrDA connectivity and 18 MB of user memory. It measures at 108 x 45 x 18.5 mm and weights 96 gr.

Philips Xenium 9@9t (on the right) can be considered a smartphone. In addition to the same impressive longevity (850 hrs of stanby and 8.5 hrs of talk time and other features of 9@9d, Xenium 9@9 t comes with a 128×160 65K Touchscreen, Handwriting recognition, stylus, mp3 player and MiniSD memory expansion slot. No Bluetoooth and IrDA here.
And here we thought that Philips is out of cellphone business for good. Looks like it’s back. With a vengeance.
