Samsung U700 Thinnest 3G slider is coming to U.S. soon

Samsung U700 Ultra Edition 12.1 the worlds thinnest 3G HSDPA slider is coming to the United States soon. At least that’s what FCC, which has approved Samsung U700, is telling us.

Samsung U700 is a really nice 3.5G phone that supports 3.6 Mbps HSDPA and EDGE data transfers, works on GSM900/1800/1900 and 2.1 GHz UMTS networks and comes with 3.2 mpx camera, VGA camera for video calls, 2.2″ 262K color display, Bluetooth 2.0, mpeg4 video player, full HTML browsing and microSD memory card slot. All of this in a sleek 102.5 x 50 x 12.1 mm sized package.

The only thing that’s missing in Samsung U700 – is Wi-Fi connectivity. But if you opt for unlimited data plan at Cingular or T-Mobile, HSDPA data transfer rates make it really unnecessary.

Although Europeans usually get their hands first on the latest and greatest cellphones from major brands, this time Nokia E90 Communicator and and Samsung U100 Ultra Edition 5.9 phones should be launched in the U.S. pretty soon too. At least that’s what FCC site tells us.

A flagship Nokia E90 communicator has been approved by FCC last Friday.

E90 is the first communicator to be included into the NokiaÂ ESeries business smartphone line-up and it comes stuffed with almost everything that Nokia could think off. Like QWERTY keyboard, big 800×320px internal screen, GPS navigation, 3.2 Mpx camera, WLAN and HSDPA connectivity, office productivity applications, VoIP and video calling, Intellysinc Mobile suite and many other cool things.

Nokia E90 is expected to go on sale in Q2 of this year and should cost somewhere around $1000 before subsidies.

Another 3GSM goodie to be approved by FCC is the “worlds thinnest phone”, Samsung U100 Ultra Edition 5.9. Samsung U100 is a triband (900/1800/1900) EDGE/GPRS phone that comes with 3 megapixel camera, multimedia player, Bluetooth connectivity and is only 5.9 mm thin.

It should go on sale also sometime in Q2 2007.

Samsung already boasts the title for the worlds 2 slimmest phones with Samsung U100 Ultra Edition 5.9 and Samsung X820 .

It also has the worlds slimmest slider – Samsung U600 Ultra Edition 10.6 and thinnest clamshell – Samsung U300.

Can Samsung’s phones get any thinner? Apparently, yes.

Samsung’s Ultra Edition II phones are using 1.9 mm thick LCD module, produced by it’s daughter company Samsung SDI.

And now, according to Korean Times, Samsung SDI has produced a record breaking 0.74 mm thin LCD module that will go into the next generation of Samsung phones.

That’s full 1.2 mm or 63% off previous generation screens, which will make Samsung Ultra Edition III candybar handset only 4.7 mm thin.

I just wonder, how thin Samsung can make it’s phones until we start folding them like a paper sheets?

Samsung F510 is another phone in the new Ultra Special line-up. It doesn’t have smart touchscreen or fancy keyboards like Samsung F700 and Samsung F520, but is designed around personal multimedia player experience instead.

Today the worlds slimmest mobile phone officially got even slimmer. As we predicted, today at 3GSM World Congress Samsung has launched new generation of it’s Ultra Edition phones, dubbed Ultra Edition II.

The slimmest of them is Samsung U100 Ultra Edition 5.9 candybar that replaces Samsung X820 in the “worlds slimmest handset” spot.

Samsung Ultra Edition 5.9 (U100) phone is only 5.9 mm thin with overall dimensions of 105.5×50x5.9 mm. Other specs and features for Samsung U100 include:

2.78″ 262K color 440×240px touchscreen on Samsung Ultrasmart F700 maybe lacking iPhone’s MultiTouch gestures, but it’s bright and clear to view any multimedia content and has “drag and drop” Flash User Interface that provides for easy operation and navigation through all the functions.

Samsung Ultra Smart is 16,4mm thick, has built-in 5 megapixel camera with autofocus, Bluetooth, supports full HTML browsing and has microSD memory card slot.

While the support for 7.2 Mbps HSDPA networks support provided by Samsung Ultra Smart F700 is probably an overkill for the most of the world, the rest of connectivity options like Triband GSM (900/1800/1900), EDGE and UMTS 2100 are spot on and will allow this phone to work on almost any GSM network in the world.

Ultra F700 is one of the most impressive phones Samsung has ever produced. How on earth did they manage to keep something like F700 under wraps? With information about other Samsung Ultra Edition phones leaked all other the net, we come to hear about Samsung F700 only through official announcement !?

If Samsung can shave off 1 millimeter from the “worlds thinnest phone” – Samsung X820, what can it do with a almost twice as thick slider – Samsung D900? Yep, you guessed right, it can shave 2 millimeters from it. The successor to Samsung D900 “slimmest slider” is only 10.9 millimeters thick and will be called Samsung Ultra Edition 10.9.

Featurewise Samsung Ultra Edition 10.9 slider did not change much from it’s predecessor and comes with 3.2 megapixel camera, mp3/video player, digital power amplifier, Stereo Bluetooth, TV-out port, 80MB of internal memory and built-in Micro-SD card slot.

The new Samsung Ultra Edition 10.9 should be introduced during 3GSM Congress in Barcelona.

Can the mobile phone get any thinner then 6.9 mm Samsung X820 Ultra Edition candybar? Sure. Why not shave off another millimeter from it? And that’s what Korean vendor did with the successor of Samsung X820 cellphone.

Only 5.9 mm thin, this Ultra Edition 5.9 candybar handset has got even better then it’s predecessor. Despite losing 15% in thickness the new tri-band (GSM/GPRS/EDGE) Samsung Ultra Edition 5.9 phone now sports 3.2 megapixel camera, 80 MB internal memory, Bluetooth (A2DP), digital power amplifier, speakerphone, mp3 and video player and TV-out port.

We were unable to find the exact number model for this phone, but our bet is somewhere between Samsung X830 and X850. The phone should be announced in February during 3GSM show in Barcelona and is expected to go on sale this March.

Anyway, it is a great mobile phone with very impressive specs and form factor. Samsung now has the worlds thinnest candybar and slider phones and they both seem very good. Samsung is clearly focused on making your cellphone paper thin. First it has claimed to beat Motorola RAZR at the “thin” game with “worlds thinnest” 9.8 mm thick Samsung T509. Then came even thinner 8.9 mm thick Samsung SCH V870 “Platinum Card Phone”. Now Samsung has even more thin cellphone – “the worlds slimmest” Samsung X820.

Unveiled at Sviaz ExpoComm 2006 in Moscow, Samsung X820 is a “candybar” shaped cellphone that is only 6.9mm thick and weights just 66 grams. Despite it’s slim shape, Samsung managed to put all the standard high end cellphone goodies into it. It is a GSM/GPRS/Edge phone with 2 megapixel camera, 1.9″ 262K Color Screen.

Samsung X820 also got a digital power amplifier, speakerphone, mp3 and video player able to play most common media file formats and operate in offline mode. Another interesting feature is a Tv-out port that lets you connect this mobile phone to external projector or monitor (TV) to view pictures or make business presentations using built in document viewer.

For such a slim shape, Samsung X820 also has quite acceptable 80MB of internal memory, which while nothing to brag about will be able to store quite a few documents and pictures and a few mp3 files to boot.
