The WebSDK is created together with PhoneGap (an open source community) and enables devs to work with HTML, CSS and JavaScript programming for developing application.

The Sony Ericsson WebSDK beta can be downloaded here – where you’ll also find more info and documentation.

Sony Ericsson has also launched a Web App Challenge, which requires you to “download the WebSDK and make something fantastic for the XPERIA X10 by December 31.” The creator of the best app will receive $4000. More info here.

The affected locations will include two facilities in the US (the Research Triangle Park facility in North Carolina, and a small Miami facility), plus operations in Chennai (India) and Kista (Sweden).

The Research Triangle Park facility will be closed sometime in the second half of 2010, when Sony Ericsson’s North American headquarters will be moved to Atlanta. Some employees will be offered the chance to apply for jobs in other locations, while others will receive severance packages.

Sony Ericsson is currently the world’s fourth largest phone maker, behind Nokia, Samsung and LG, but ahead of Motorola. The company hopes to re-conquer its lost market share with new handsets planned for a 2010 – including the Android-based Xperia X10.

Unfortunately, there are no new details about the features of Kurara, so we’ll have to stick to the previously rumored ones: 3.5 inch AMOLED touchscreen display, an 8.1MP camera with autofocus and flash (the camera can be clearly seen now), and Symbian – probably Symbian^2, which is based on Symbian S60 5.1 Edition).

The HD inscription can no longer be seen on the back of the phone, so it may have been just a photoshop job.

The Sony Ericsson Kurara should be released in the first half of 2010 – maybe at about the same time with the Android-powered Xperia X10?

The handset has now been spotted in new images, and this time we can take a better look at it.

As previously reported, the Sony Ericsson Kurara is a smartphone based on Symbian S60 5th Edition and it should be included in SE’s Entertainment Unlimited line-up (like the Satio and Aino).

The features of Sony Ericsson Kurara apparently include a 3.5 inch AMOLED touchscreen display and an 8.1MP camera (which, judging by the HD seen on the phone’s back, should be able to record video in HD).

The Kurara should be announced in the first half of 2010, probably under a different name.

And they are indeed pretty cool.

But today’s announcement actually gives even more hints, about how Sony Ericsson plans to go bout making new devices that should get it out of the current slump.

One of the first steps in SE plans, is making this *scape user interface, into an open UI platform, across multiple lines of devices.

Sony Ericsson head of portfolio planning has confirmed to Electricpig.co.uk that they do plan to port the new UI to Symbian handsets. And I will not be at all surprised, if their  own high end feature phones will get the same UX  too.

The other thing, revealed in Sony Ericsson communication to developers today, is that they plan to open Mediascape and Timescpe UI apps to third party developers, by releasing SDK sometime in 2010. According to SE:

We are keen to open up the APIs for these applications, and we welcome a dialog with developers to get ideas and feedback, with a view to launching a Sony Ericsson SDK in early 2010.

This common UI across multiple platforms approach, is actually nothing new. All major handset vendors are already doing it, in one way or another. HTC has the Sense UI, LG created “S-Class”, Samsung uses TouchWiz, which even has an SDK for third party widgets, etc;

But it’s good to see Sony Ericsson finally getting in tune with the industry trends with their multi platform user interface initiative and pretty cool devices. Both,  Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 and Timescape/Mediascape UX apps, look good, albeit extremely laggy, in presentation and limited demos.

Hope they will iron out the bugs in a couple of months remaining before launch.  Which  was pretty nice.

Now comes the “easy” part. Implementation

Opera Mobile 10 beta works with Symbian S60 3rd and 5th edition, so it can be installed on both touchscreen and non-touchscreen phones.

The new version of Opera Mobile has a fresh design, it’s twice as fast as the older versions launched for Symbian, and comes with desktop-like features such as Speed Dial and tabbed browsing.

The X10 will run Android 1.6 Donut (why not Android 2.0?), coming with a new UX (user experience) platform that we’ve seen before. This UX platform should provide a unique user experience, as it’s “combining best-in-class entertainment features with signature applications, unrivalled integration of social media services and a rich graphical user interface.”

As previously rumored, the Xperia X10 is based on a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon QSD8250 processor – being the second Android phone to use a Snapdragon platform, after the Acer Liquid A1.

With the X10, users will have access to both Android Market and Play Now Arena. At the same time with the X10, Sony Ericsson will introduce two new features: Sony Ericsson Timescape, which “manages all your communication with one person in one place – you can browse through your conversations the bright way to check out your Facebook, Twitter, photos, emails, and texts all in one go”; and Sony Ericsson Mediascape, which “is the smart way to get all the music, photos and videos you want from your favorite friends and artists. It accesses content from everywhere – your phone, YouTube, PlayNow – and presents everything for you.”

Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 and X10a will be available starting the first quarter of 2010, in two color versions: Sensuous Black and Luster White. The smartphone’s price was not announced.

Sony Ericsson says about the X10 that it’s “the flagship phone in a family of phones coming to market during the first half of 2010”, so we should expect more Android handsets to be announced soon by the Swedish-Japanese company.

The demo here is concentrated on Rachael’s media player, which looks quite different from what we’re used to see on other Android phones.

If we’re to believe the title of the video, the Rachael’s 4 inch touchscreen display has a resolution of 480 x 854 – just like the display of Motorola Droid (which seems to be one of this year’s nicest Android handsets).

November 3 is the date when Sony Ericsson plans to officially announce the Rachael Xperia X3 (or X10) – let’s hope the phone will meet the high expectations everyone has about it.

Sony Ericsson posted a teaser video with what’s going to be unveiled on this date, and the phone we can see in the video is the white version of X3 / Rachael (spotted several times until now around the Web).

Sadly, the video doesn’t tell us much, so we still have to wait until November 3 to finally take a look at the official Rachael X3 (or X10, or whatever Sony Ericsson will name it in the end).

The Rachael will be Sony Ericsson’s first Android smartphone. Its features should include a 4 inch WVGA touchscreen display, 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, Wi-Fi, GPS, 8MP autofocus camera and a 3.5mm headset jack.

Until all these features get to be confirmed, here’s the promised teaser video:

Previously known as Sony Ericsson Idou, the Satio is SE’s flagship cameraphone, coming with a 12MP autofocus camera that features touch focus, geotagging, face and smile detection, Xenon flash, and VGA video recording at 30fps.

Sony Ericsson Satio also comes with Symbian S60 5th Edition, a 3.5 inch touchscreen display with 360 x 640 pixels and 16 million colors, GSM and HSDPA connectivity, Wi-Fi, GPS, stereo FM radio, ARM Cortex A8 600 MHz processor, and an 8GB memory card in the box.

Indian customers will be able to buy the Sony Ericsson Satio for 35,950 INR ($759).

The second new phone, Sony Ericsson Aino (which was just launched in the US too), comes with a 240 x 432 pixels display, alphanumeric keypad, 8MP camera, HSDPA, Wi-Fi, GPS, 8GB memory card, and the ability to work as a remote controller for PlayStation 3. The Aino is priced at 28,950 INR ($612).

And finally, the Sony Ericsson Yari features a QVGA display, 5MP camera, gesture and motion gaming, GPS and a 1GB card in the box.

The Yari is cheaper than the other two SE phones – 16,950 INR ($358).

The Aino is sold unlocked and you have to pay $599.99 to get it. Unfortunately, it looks like it’s currently out of stock, but you can still order it (and receive it as soon as stocks are refilled).

The good news is that the phone has 850/1900 MHz UMTS/HSDPA connectivity, so you’ll be able to use it on AT&T’s 3G network.

The other features of Sony Ericsson Aino include: 3 inch TFT touchscreen display with 240 x 432 pixels and 16 million colors, GPS with Google Maps, Wi-Fi, clear audio experience, MicroSD card support (8GB card included), and an 8MP autofocus camera with Led flash and VGA video recording at 30fps.

Sony Ericsson Aino also has a sliding alphanumeric keypad, and it can be used as a remote controller for your Sony PlayStation 3 console.

The Equinox is a 3G clamshell phone featuring “eye-catching light effects” that let you associate up to five contacts with a unique effect.

Coming as the US version of Sony Ericsson T707, the Equinox also features a 2.2 inch QVGA internal display, GPS, stereo Bluetooth, FM radio, YouTube access and a 3.2MP camera.

T-Mobile will sell the Sony Ericsson Equinox for $50 with a 2-yr contract agreement.

To celebrate the release of Equinox, Sony Ericsson’s brand ambassador Maria Sharapova will be present at the opening of a new T-Mo store in LA, California, on October 31. Sony Ericsson’s What’s Next webpage lets us know that this is the date of some mysterious announcement. The guys over at the se-blog took a look at the page’s HTML code and found that the word “Rachael” appears two times in it.

So it’s almost certain that Sony Ericsson will finally unveil the Rachael – its first Android smartphone, rumored to feature a 4 inch WVGA display, an 8MP camera and a 1GHz Snapdragon processor.

In other SE news, it looks like the Swedish-Japanese company is also readying a new Symbian S60 smartphone (like the Satio), currently codenamed Sony Ericsson Kurara.

According to the Semc blog, Kurara is a full-touch handset with a large display (possibly a 3.5 inch one) and an 8.1MP camera. The two photos below are the only ones available at the moment:

Here’s what we knew going into today: Susan is a candybar, Sunny is a slider. Both phones have  5 MP cameras with LED flash, though neither would likely be a Cybershot device.

Today, however, we saw the pics and videos of the device in a lot more detail, but the only additional thing we truly learned was that there is some kind of new UI platform on these devices. It’s not the traditional style for Sony Ericsson, so we are left speculating on exactly what it could be, and if it will make it into the final versions that get shipped out.

Anyway, the FCC has published an X2 User Guide, which teaches you how to switch between Xperia panels, use the 8.1MP autofocus camera, and other things like that. The User Guide can be seen here (PDF file).

Part of the new line up of Windows Mobile 6.5 phones, Sony Ericsson Xperia X2 features a 3.2 inch WVGA touchscreen display, full QWERTY keyboard, optical trackpad, A-GPS, Wi-Fi, 3.5mm headset jack and so on.

There’s no word yet if any of the US carriers will sell the Xperia X2.

According to Tweakers.net, the info was obtained from anonymous SE employees, who also said that the Android-powered Xperia would be available starting 2010 (yeah, we’ve heard about this before).

Although it might not hit the market until next year, the SEMC Blog has it that the Rachael will be officially announced in November – they say nothing about the handset’s renaming to X10 though.

Well, until something official about all this shows up, here’s the latest Xperia X3 live photo, appeared over at 4pda.info:

In case you don’t know yet, the smartphone should come with Android 2.0, a 4 inch WVGA touchscreen display, 8MP camera and – more importantly – a 1GHz Snapdragon CPU.

14.1 million Sony Ericsson phones were sold in Q3 2009 (compared to 25.7 million units in Q3 2008, and 13.8 million units in Q2 2009) and SE estimates that its global market share is of 5%. The average selling price was €114.

The Swedish-Japanese company lost €198 million (before taxes) – that’s actually good news if you think about the €283 million loss reported in the previous quarter.

“Our business in the third quarter started to show the effects of our ongoing transformation programme. Having refreshed our brand we are now better positioned to support the launch of new products such as Aino and Satio in Q4 2009. We have cleared channel inventories, and have continued to realign internal resources and improve efficiency. We have also arranged external financing to strengthen the company’s financial position. Transforming the business for future growth and returning Sony Ericsson to profitability is the focus of the senior management team and will continue under the new leadership,” said Dick Komiyama, ex- President of Sony Ericsson, now replaced by Bert Nordberg.

Now let’s wait and see if the Satio, Aino and Xperia X2 (pictured above) will further improve SE’s situation.

Both new phones should have 5MP photo cameras with Led flash, although they don’t seem to be part of the Cyber-shot series like the C702 (the latest-released rugged SE handset).

Sony Ericsson Susan is a candybar that apparently has a home button, similar to the one Android handsets have – however, the chances for it to be an Android phone are quite low.

The other upcoming phone, Sony Ericsson Sunny, is a slider that looks a bit like the T715 model:

Of course, these photos only show renderings of the phones, so the real devices could look different. For the moment, there’s no word on when Sony Ericsson plans to announce the Susan and Sunny.

For the moment, the app store – apparently called 3apps – is compatible with Nokia and Sony Ericsson phones, but more handsets will probably be added soon.

The store features 500 applications organized in categories like Social Networking, Business, Entertainment and Health & Fitness.

The first phone to come with 3’s app store preinstalled is the eco-friendly Sony Ericsson Naite (which was announced by O2 UK yesterday).

With visual voicemail, your voicemail messages are shown in an in-box which features an email-like interface – this provides valuable info including date, time and length of messages, and even caller number or identity (if available).

Neither Comverse, nor Sony Ericsson has mentioned which phones will get visual voicemail, but we assume the Xperia X2 and Xperia X3 are among them.

Coming as a fashionable clamshell phone, the Sony Ericsson Equinox should be on sale via T-Mo starting October 28.

The features of Sony Ericsson Equinox include: scratch-resistant displays (QVGA internal one and 36 x 128 pixels external one), stereo Bluetooth, picture messaging, 3.2MP camera and “fashionable pulse light.”

No word yet on the price of Sony Ericsson Equinox from T-Mobile USA, but it will probably be under  $100 with a contract agreement for 2 years.

The unboxed Xperia X3 is a white one, but there will be a black version of the handset too.

Coming as Sony Ericsson’s first Android smartphone, the Rachael / Xperia X3 has a 1GHz Snapdragon processor, 8MP camera, 4 inch WVGA display, 3.5mm headset jack and probably many other nice features.

The Swedish-Japanese company has just announced the Motion Activated Headphones MH907, presented as “the world’s first ever motion activated headphones that sense the user.”

With Sony Ericsson MH907, you can listen to music just by plugging in its two earphones. To pause music, you have to remove one earbud. You can answer and end calls in a similar way – so there’s no need to push any buttons.

Sony Ericsson worked with internationally renowned animator Kristofer Ström to make a video promo for the MH907:

The SE MH907 is compatible with most Sony Ericsson phones that feature a fast port connector. The headphones weigh only 25.32 grams and will be available in the fourth quarter of the year, in two color versions: Titan Chrome and Yellow/White.

Although this isn’t officially confirmed, MobileCrunch says that there’s a good chance for the X3 to be indeed launched in the first month of 2010.

Previously seen in several leaked photos, the Xperia X3 will be a high end smartphone with features that should include: 1GHz Snapdragon processor, 4 inches touchscreen display with 800 x 400 pixels, 8MP autofocus camera, Wi-Fi, GPS, 3.5mm headset jack, and a new customized UI to run on top of Android.

Unlike the recently announced Xperia X2 (which is based on Windows Mobile 6.5), the Xperia X3 does not have a hardware QWERTY keyboard.

And speaking of the X2, Expansys has it that it will be launched by Vodafone UK on November 3.

A teaser page has appeared on SE’s official website, saying that “the way you listen to music” will be changed “forever” on September 21 (when a webcast will go live here).

Of course, this is just PR talk, but it’s quite possible that we’re going to see a new music-oriented phone presented on that date.

For the moment, there’s nothing on the teaser website, save for a rather creepy guy drinking soda and listening to music.

The latest-rumored and unannounced important Sony Ericsson phone is the Android-powered Rachael / Xperia X3. Could it be that we won’t see a Walkman handset announced on September 21 and, instead, the Rachael is going to be unveiled? After all, the phone does look like it has a lot to do with mobile music. And an Android music phone is something that may indeed change the way we listen to music. Or isn’t it?

According to Eldar Murtazin from Mobile-review, Sony Ericsson has “denied” to further support Microsoft’s mobile OS. The Xperia X2 is possibly the last SE device to come with Windows Mobile – the company has one more Windows phone in development, but it might be cancelled.

The reason for all this seems to be the fact that SE doesn’t believe Windows Mobile devices will sell well in the future. “Sales forecast is bad”, said Eldar.

And since WM must be replaced with something else, Sony Ericsson will migrate to Android and Symbian S60. The handset maker already has an S60-based smartphone, although unreleased (the Satio), and we’ve also heard about the Android-based Xperia Rachael.

Well, it looks like SE will have 4 Android phones and other 3 or 4 S60 phones next year. Assuming that these are well-received by customers, I don’t think that Sony Ericsson will have any reason to regret the fact that it abandons Windows Mobile (if it will indeed do it).

Following the footsteps of Xperia X1, the X2 comes with a touchscreen display and a full QWERTY keyboard. The new smartphone also has Xperia panels – and Sony Ericsson has done a wise thing by releasing the Panels SDK so that developers can create new panels.

The Xperia X2 has recently been previewed by Mobile-review.

Both the black and the silver editions of the smartphone were photographed – and the black one looks arguably nicer.

Overall, the X2 seems to be better built than the X1. Reportedly, the X2 has a nice WVGA touchscreen display, “excellent” QWERTY keyboard, loud speakers, and nicely integrated panels.

The new smartphone uses the same processor as the X1 – Qualcomm MSM 7200 at 528MHz. Hopefully, this will do its job well. The X2 previewed by Mobile-review is not the final version of the device, so it’s not clear yet how the final version will perform.

Mobile-review expects the Xperia X2 to be priced at about 28,000 Russian rubles (€617 or $880).

This price is sort of confirmed by HDblog.it (via WMPoweruser): they say that the X2 will be launched in Italy in late October, for €500 – €600 (most probably €599).

As Official Mobile Handset of the 2010 FIFA World Cup, Sony Ericsson will deliver World Cup content and news, either directly to phones, or via the Extra Man official website.

Next year, SE will launch a unique football application capable of offering instant access to World Cup-related video content, news, and games. Users will also be able to share content via social networking sites.

Sony Ericsson has already launched WorldCupedia – the first football focused search engine in the world.

Earlier this summer, Sony Ericsson launched Golden Ticket – users can register here, buy a Sony Ericsosn phone and win tickets to 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa, or Sony BRAVIA HD LCD TVs.

The Sony Ericsson Xperia Pureness is a phone with a simple design, bringing together “beautiful craftsmanship and the concept of talk, text, time – a holiday from technology.”

And to continue with the PR language, the Xperia Pureness “approaches the mobile phone as a work of art rather than technology.”

Reportedly, Sony Ericsson’s designers “aimed to sculpt an object of design that reflected the purity of water and a sense of calmness when not in use.”

The handset seems to be the same with the Sony Ericsson Kiki, first seen two months ago.

The Panels SDK comes with a native software development kit, and a so called Panelizer.

The Panelizer can transform existing Java, Windows Mobile and Flash applications into Xperia X2 panels.

You can download the Panels SDK from here. After you’ve created your X2 panels, you can upload them here.

If your panels/applications are accepted, they will appear in Sony Ericsson’s PlayNow arena (currently available in 18 countries).

“Putting developers’ applications directly in front of consumers is a crucial focus for us. We created the Panel SDK to streamline the development process, minimising the time it takes to get applications directly to the consumer and providing developers with additional revenue opportunities,” declared Christopher David, Head of Developer and Partner Engagement at Sony Ericsson.

As reported yesterday, Sony Ericsson Xperia X2 will be available around the world starting early Q4 2009, at the same time with many other Windows Mobile 6.5 smartphones.

For example, the already-announced Sony Ericsson Aino has just been approved by the FCC to work on the GSM 850/1900 and WCDMA 850/1900 bands. Needless to say, these are the bands that AT&T uses for its wireless services, so the second largest US carrier might want to release the Aino sometime in the future.

Also known as U10, U10i and U10a, Sony Ericsson Aino is a multimedia featurephone that comes with a 3 inch, 240 x 432 pixels touchscreen display, alphanumeric keypad, Wi-Fi, GPS, and an 8MP autofocus camera.

In case AT&T won’t release the Aino, US customers will probably be able to buy the phone unlocked, via the Sony Style shop.

Appeared in leaked photos many times until now, the Xperia X2 is Sony Ericsson’s new flagship smartphone.

Like the HTC Touch2 (also announced today), SE Xperia X2 will come with Windows Mobile 6.5 on board – which means that it will have stuff like Microsoft Office Mobile, Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync and Internet Explorer Mobile.

The smartphone has a new SlideView feature, which offers “quick access to frequently used phone activities”.

Like the Xperia X1, X2 comes with Xperia panels – 14 are preloaded, and other 16 are available for download. The panels include Skype, Google, Mytopia, CNN, Windows Live, games and so on.

The current management team at SE, lead by Hideki (Dick) Komiyama, consumer electronics sales veteran from Sony, totally screwed up in mobile market.

They haven’t been able to come up with a single hit product in years, missing industry trends, losing sales (down 40%+ in a year), market share (now at 4.7% worldwide)and tons of money (500 mil.+ EUR in 2009 so far) in the process. The current Sony Ericsson balance sheet shows that they have about 965 million Euro in cash and short term cash investments on hand, which, at current burn rate, will not last even a year.

I guess, making and selling mobile phones is really a very different thing then selling TV’s, media players and camcorders.

With their joint venture teetering on the brink of irrelevance, and even insolvency, the powers that be at SE decided that it’s time for the telecom industry  insiders to take over from CE salesmen, and try  to turn around of  what’s left of Sony Ericsson. Enter Bert Nordberg, currently Executive Vice President of the Ericsson Group and Head of Ericsson Silicon Valley, who becomes SE co-president on 1st of September, and will completely replace Komiyama on Oct. 15th.

I’m sure more replacements in key SE positions are soon to come.

With Ericsson side of joint venture taking over day to day operations of Sony Ericsson, Sony’s Chairman, CEO and President Sir Howard Stringer get’s the supervisory Chairman of the Board spot at SE, replacing current Ericsson CEO Carl-Henric Svanberg.

All the corporate pleasantries and PR speak about current successful transformation aside, the current SE product line-up shows that Mr. Nordberg has a pretty daunting task ahead of him.

While Sony Ericsson has some pretty impressive products like Symbian based Satio, Android based Rachael/Xperia and Windows Mobile Xperia X2 in the pipeline, at a price points of above 500 or even 600 Euro, none of them are likely to become “smash-hits” Mr. Nordberg is looking for. And, with all the people that already left the company, plus turmoil the management shake-up will produce there, it can be more then a year until anything really new and “smashy” comes out.

The good news is, that it looks that the company and it’s shareholders now understand and are prepared to do what is needed. Which, according to one person who has seen some internal SE strategy papers, include the shareholder loan of around 450 million Euro to keep the company running through 2010, until the revenues from new products in the end of 2010/ beginning of 2011 kick-in.

The Jalou was just announced by Sony Ericsson, and it looks to be the same device as the Sony Ericsson Bao, leaked not long ago.

Designed for women and girls, the new phone is presented as being “shorter than your favorite lipstick” – and it is, since it’s only 73mm long.

The clamshell has a 2 inch QVGA display that can be turned into a mirror with the press of a button. Furthermore, it is SE’s first phone to come with Walk Mate step counter, an application that “helps you stay in shape wherever you go.”

The Jalou features quad-band GSM connectivity, and tri-band UTMS/HSPA (900 / 1700 / 2100 MHz) – the 1700 3G band promising a release via T-Mobile USA.

Sony Ericsson Jalou will be released in the fourth quarter of 2009, in three gem-inspired colors: Aquamarine Blue, Onyx Black and Deep Amethyst. Its price is not known at the moment.

Sony Ericsson has also announced the Jalou by Dolce&Gabbana limited edition. This phone has the same specs as the regular Jalou, but comes in a Sparkling Rose color and is plated with 24 carat gold. It features exclusive Dolce&Gabbana content (like photos and videos from “Dolce&Gabbana’s women’s Autumn/Winter 2010 runway show”).

Jalou by Dolce&Gabbana will be available in Q4 2009, probably for a price much higher than the one of the simple Jalou.

According to Netbooknews, “a reliable Taiwanese source” has confirmed the fact that Sony Ericsson is working on a smartbook that’s coming “soon.”

Details are scarce at the moment, so there’s no word yet if said smartbook is based on a Qualcomm Snapdragon platform or not.

Theoretically, a smartbook is something in between a smartphone and a netbook. So I don’t know what exactly we should expect from Sony Ericsson’s smartbook. Perhaps a maximized Xperia? Or something similar to a Sony VAIO P-series sub-netbook (seen below)?

Regardless of what it will look like, the SE smartbook has lots of chances to be a really nice device. Now let’s hope that Sony Ericsson will indeed launch it.

Well, today, the Sony Ericsson T715a has passed the FCC as well, with GSM 850/1900 and UMTS 850/1900 bands, as mentioned in the sar report.

These are exactly the bands that AT&T uses, so the carrier might launch the T715a sometime later this year.

Announced at the end of June, Sony Ericsson T715 / T715a is a slider that comes with a new UI feature called “smart desktop”, a 2.2 inch QVGA display, Google Maps, Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP, stereo FM radio, 3.2MP camera, 90MB of internal memory, and MicroSD card support.

If AT&T doesn’t launch the Sony Ericsson T715a, customers will probably find it unlocked, at the Sony Style shop, where phones like the W995a Walkman and Xperia X1a are already available.

Apparently, the Swedish-Japanese company also has a so-called Sony Ericsson Jalou, which might be announced sometime this fall.

Like the Satio, Sony Ericsson Jalou should come with Symbian S60 5th Edition on board. According to IT168, the smartphone will also have quad-band GSM and tri-band HSDPA connectivity. Other features may include: 3 inch touchscreen display, GPS and Wi-Fi.

The image below was presented by several blogs as showing the SE Jalou, but it’s actually just a mockup based on the W995 Walkman flagship and posted at the Esato forum:

Well, until the existence of Sony Ericsson Jalou is confirmed, we can only think about all this with skepticism.

The new colored logos will be used in various marketing materials but are not expected to make it to the actual phones and packaging.

Well, good to see some things change at SE, I just hope that this isn’t the only thing to do so.

A few weeks ago, when the first images of Rachael were leaked, we didn’t know too much about its features.

But now, thanks to the online retailer Expansys, we have an almost complete list of its specs.

The 8MP camera we already knew about is obviously confirmed, coming with autofocus, image stabilization, face detection, smile shutter, LED flash and VGA video recording.

The rest of the smartphone’s specs reportedly include:

• Dual-band 3G (900/2100 MHz) with HSDPA 10Mbps and HSUPA 2Mbps

Well, such images have just been spotted over at the XDA-developers forum.

Sharing the same form factor (touchscreen phone with sliding QWERTY keyboard), the X2 and the X1 have almost the same size, despite the fact that the display of X2 is larger (3.5 inches with 480 x 800 pixels).

Whether or not the X2 looks better than the X1 is up for you to decide:

Sony Ericsson Xperia X2 comes with Windows Mobile 6.5 and, apparently, it will be upgradeable to Windows Mobile 7. Its other features should include modified Xperia panels, accelerometer, GPS, 8.1MP autofocus camera with VGA video recording, 3.5mm headset jack, 512 RAM and a fast processor.

The release date of Xperia X1 is a mystery for now.

On the second place is another S60 5th Edition smartphone from Nokia – the popular 5800 XpressMusic.

Surprisingly or not, the Sony Ericsson W595 Walkman is on the third place, followed by the C510 Cyber-shot, also from Sony Ericsson.

The fifth place is taken by the brand new Samsung Jet, which was released a bit earlier than the N97.

The other five phones that made it into the top 10 are:

Of course, the C905a is actually not that new – we first saw it back in November 2008 – but it’s the first 8MP camera phone to hit AT&T, so its launch should be welcomed with enthusiasm.

The two handsets will be available starting July 19. On contract, the price of C905a is of $179.99, while the price of W518a is of $49.99 (both after $50 rebates).

Coming as the US version of C905, Sony Ericsson C905a features an 8MP camera with autofocus, Xenon flash, image stabilization, face & smile detection, and video recording.

The C905a Cyber-shot also comes with 3G, Wi-Fi, A-GPS, geotagging, Bluetooth with A2DP, TV out and so on.

The second new phone from AT&T, Sony Ericsson W518a, is an upgraded version of the W508.

The phone looks like the W508, but it has GPS, alongside a Facebook application, a QVGA internal display, external music controls and a 3.2MP camera.

And, knowing the line of products SE had for sale these few months,  the coming quarterly report tomorrow is bound to be not much better.

So they really need to tell something to cheer their fans and customers to compensate for the bad news. And it seems that they are going to do just that.

At least that’s what Sony Ericsson North America just promised us via this tweet:

So let’s speculate some what those new products might be, especially since the leaks and rumors during the last few weeks and months have been pretty specific.

Sony Ericsson had some big announcement planned on June 17th, and everyone “knew” that this should be the new Xperia X2.

Unfortunately the big media blitz turned  out to be a complete nonews event. And, the grapevine has it, it was all Samsung’s fault.

Here they were, ready to dazzle the world with their latest and greatest WinMo smartphone – Sony Ericsson Xperia X2 – the best modern technology could offer, and Samsung comes out with Omnia II and Omnia Pro. Less then 24hrs before the big event! Specwise leaving Xperia X2 in the dust.

That must have been quite a shock! All the ready Xperia X2 PR crap suddenly sounds just like, well, crap. And SE has nothing else to do but to scrap it, cancel the announcement, bore the attending media to death  with the rehash of the old news, and start looking for the new PR angle.

And here we are today.

Xperia X2 ain’t such a big deal anymore. But Sony Ericsson is still in a desperate need for some good publicity, come tomorrow.

So SE leaks two more Xperia’s to the net. That’s a transparent display “Kiki” – SE Xperia X3 and Android based “Rachel” – Sony Ericsson Xperia X5.

Well, that’s a bit better. And right on time to give us something else, apart from dismal earnings, to talk and write about tomorrow

So, I think, that pretty soon, maybe even tomorrow we are going to see a major revamp of the Xperia line, with all three new Xperia devices announced.

The Rachael is Sony Ericsson’s first Android smartphone, so it will probably draw an impressive amount of attention when officially announced.

Until then, though, we’ve got a video preview with the handset’s User Interface, found via USEB.

Apparently, Sony Ericsson has developed its own new UI to run on top of Android – and, well, it all looks pretty cool:

Feature-wise, Sony Ericsson Xperia Rachael should come with a wide touchscreen display and an 8MP autofocus camera. There are probably many other high-end specs included, since the device is built on the Qualcomm QSD8250 Snapdragon chipset, but these are not known at the moment.

We’ll bring more on Sony Ericsson’s first Android smartphone as soon as new details emerge.

Accessible at this address, the Sony Ericsson store allows French customers to buy the latest SE mobile phones, plus accessories and other products.

All the phones sold via the online store are unlocked, so you’ll have to pay serious cash for the high-end ones – for example, the Xperia X1 costs €649 (about $903), while the W995 Walkman costs €489 ($680).

Sony Ericsson didn’t make any official announcement on when its online store will reach other countries. However, we’ll probably see the store launched in many other markets pretty soon.

As expected, the Xperia X2 from these blueprints looks quite similar to the device that was spotted in the previously-leaked live pictures. So we’ve got that wide touchscreen display, the full QWERTY keyboard, and the arc-slider design.

There’s also a camera on the back (possibly an 8MP one), a LED flash, and probably a 3.5mm headset jack on the top.

Sadly, we still don’t know when Sony Ericsson Xperia X2 will be officially unveiled – that rumored June 17 date turned out not to be accurate.

The Bao is a clamshell that has an interesting design, looking a bit like a handset from Nokia’s Prism line-up.

Details about the features of Sony Ericsson Bao are completely inexistent, but we can see that the phone has a photo camera – and probably a hidden external display too.

No word yet on when Sony Ericsson intends to officially announce the Bao, but it will probably not be long until this happens.

They told us about it themselves. And now the details  start trickling out.

The first Sony Ericsson Android smartphone is codenamed “Rachael“, has got a big touchscreen display, and is built on Qualcomm QSD8250 Snapdragon platform.

Snapdragon has some pretty amazing amazing specs – up to 1 GHz CPU, HD video decoding ,12mpx camera, GPS, broadcast TV and Wi-Fi support. Though it remains to be seen which of them make it into a new SE Android handset. Probably not all of them, since we already know that SE opted for a lower resolution – 8.1 megapixel camera on this phone.

They have decided to market their new smartphone under the Xperia brand. And since Xperia X2 is already reserved for their next WinMo smartphone, could this be Sony Ericsson Xperia X5 we’ve been hearing about?

And we’ve also got some info on another Sony Ericsson phone codenamed “Kiki”, which I’ll put into an “interesting/strange” category.

Sony Ericsson “Kiki” comes with a transparent glasslike display. The images are projected on this display and, it seems, can be viewed from both sides of the handset. It also has a smooth surface keypad on the front, where the numbers should appear when the phone is on. Though I have no idea how tactile it would be and whether the symbols on it are fixed or adaptable. Could go both ways.

Anyway, we’ll be watching developments on both of these handsets and will bring you the news as they come along. Stay tuned.

The new phone will be offered in two versions: Sony Ericsson T715 (with quad-band GSM and 2100 HSPA), and Sony Ericsson T715a for the Americas (with quad-band GSM and 850/1900/2100 HSPA).

The T715 has a metallic appearance, thanks to its “high-class finish”, and comes with a new UI feature, dubbed “smart desktop”. This should enable you to “organize your life in an intuitive way”.

The specs of T715 are on the mid-end side, including:

• 2.2 inch QVGA display with 256K colors
• Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP
• Music player
• Stereo FM radio with RDS
• Google Maps
• 3.2MP camera with Photo light
• 90MB of internal memory
• MicroSD card support
• 91.5 x 48.0 x 14.9 mm (3.6 x 1.9 x 0.6 inches)
• 96.5 grams (3.4 oz)

Sony Ericsson T715 and T715a will be available starting the third quarter of 2009, in two color versions: Galaxy Silver and Rouge Pink. The phone’s price was not announced.

Sony Ericsson has also unveiled a new Bluetooth headset, the VH310 (pictured above), bit it didn’t say when it will be available.
