Mobiado comes out with Luminoso Lucido for 200 rich geeks

Looking for yet another way to show people just how rich you are? Keeping the price tag on every expensive item that you buy won’t help, but the newly announced Mobiado Lucido would.

The Mobiado Lucido takes cues from the oh-so-exclusive Mobiado Luminoso, and is fashioned-just like every other Mobiado phone we’ve seen so far-with a combination of some sapphire crystal, stainless steel, and aircraft aluminum. Only 200 pieces of it will ever be produced. Making it a little something you could call “limited edition.”

It’s a phone that puts form first, but function isn’t that too left behind either. Of course it’ll be unlocked and will work fine with any GSM operator (as long as you’re within cell range). And not only can you take it on cross-country trips, but also across continents as it has triband GSM and WCDMA 2100 network coverage.

The Mobiado Lucido also supports MP3, MP4, eAAC+ and AAC multimedia file formats, which you can play on its built-in music player. A 2 megapixel camera takes care of snaps, and memory shouldn’t be a problem since you can feed this baby with up to 2GB, give or take a few MBs.

I believe we have now established that the Mobiado Lucido is a phone that’s expensive, exclusive, and fairly mid-end (features-wise). The only thing left for you to know now is the price. Too bad it wasn’t included in the company’s official announcement, but you can always contact Mobiado for that.

Hit the malls remotely via telerobotic shopper and cellphone in Japan

While the rest of the world settles for the Internet and web sites like eBay, Japan thinks it should fulfill the futuristic legacy of sci-fi and anime by continuing to build robots that will somehow help mankind. The latest to come out of robot developer tmsuk’s labs is a telerobotic shopper, which lets you shop in malls from the comfort of your own home by using NTT DoCoMo’s cellphone technology.

The telerobotic shopper demo was performed at Izutuya department store in Kitakyushu, Japan, where a caring granddaughter took care of her sick grandmother’s shopping fix. The girl and the robot took to each other’s side, examined the hats on display, and eventually picked one to purchase and take home to the grandmother.

Apparently, the telerobotic shopper is some kind of robot wielding a cameraphone that does video calls with you so you can see what the robot sees. How this is better than just letting a friend go to the mall with a regular cameraphone and doing a video call with you, I don’t really know. But I’m sure tmsuk is going to work hard enough on it anyway to try and make it as mainstream as soon as humanly possible.

Sony Ericsson K550 Cyber-Shot phone is a quadband (GSM 850/900/1800/1900, GPRS, EDGE) handset with 2 megapixel auto focus camera, advanced LED photo light, 1,9″ 262K TFT LCD, music and video player, Memory Stick Micro memory slot, Bluetooth, up to 7 hours of talk and 350 hours of standby time.

Sony Ericsson K550im Cybershot is a separate version of this phone with built-in support for i-mode networks and data services.

Sony Ericsson K550 will launch in select markets already this quarter.
