On it’s site Sony Ericsson says that it’s W710i Walkman Sports phone is coming to the U.S. soon. And indeed it is so. It seems that FCC has just approved this model or it’s variation for the use in United States.

The reason we are a little confused about it is that the Users Manual on FCC site labels this cellphone as W712a instead of W710i and the looks are a little different. The flip phone on the FCC site has a retractable antenna. Quick scan of the Users Manual shows that this handset uses the retractable antenna only for Hearing Aid Compatibility. So it might be that Sony Ericsson W712a is a special version of a W710i Walkman Sports Phone for hearing impaired, because all other features on this mobile are just like in W710i:

Sony Ericsson W710 Walkman sports phone is a Quad band (GSM 850, 900, 1800, 1900) clamshell that comes with the standard cellphone goodies like 2megapixel camera, FM radio, MP3 player and productivity software applications.

Like other Sony Wlakman Phones W710 is centered around music experience. It comes with plenty of storage room for your music files with 10 MB of built-in memory and 512MB Memory Stick micro. If that is not enough you can get bigger 1GB memory stick. Sony Ericsson M710 Walkman player software provides great sound ands allows easy for easy music navigation and search by album, artist, track or playlist. It has standard 3.5mm jack so you can get the best headset you like if supplied Active Stereo Headset is not enough. Dedicated music controls and a flight mode is also a given.

What makes Sony Ericsson W710i phone different is it’s more ruggeridised design to use during your fitness session and a motion sensor with pedometer software application to count your steps or measure the running distance.
