Android 1.5 Cupcake update delayed by T-Mobile USA

If you’re among T-Mobile USA’s customers who are waiting to update their G1 to Android 1.5 Cupcake, it looks like you have to wait a bit longer. Although the 1.5 version of the OS was planned to reach smartphones starting last week, this didn’t happen. According to the info found at the T-Mobile Forums, “the rollout schedule has been reset by approximately a week”, and all G1 customers are expected to have the update “by early June”....

T-Mobile G1 v2 to be launched in October via Walmart?

Forget a minute about the G2 / myTouch 3G and about the Samsung Houdini, because T-Mobile has yet another Android smartphone up its sleeve, and that’s the T-Mobile G1 v2 – codenamed T-Mobile Bigfoot or T-Mobile Morrison. Manufactured by HTC (or is it Samsung?), the G1 v2 looks like the nicest Android handset made until now and – guess  what – it also has a full sliding QWERTY keyboard. According to Boy Genius Report, T-Mobile G1 v2...

T-Mobile moving from WM to Android worldwide?

One of T-Mobile’s most popular families of handsets – in Europe, at least – is the MDA series, which is comprised of devices running on Windows Mobile. So we can easily say that T-Mo and Windows Mobile had and still have a pretty good time together. But this may change soon, and WinMo could be dissed by T-Mobile in favor of Google’s Android platform. According to ms mobiles, Reinhard Clemens, board member at Deutsche Telekom (the...

Google adds voice search to Android

Since Android is Google’s mobile platform, it’s only natural for the big G to continuously add new features to it. And the latest one comes to help T-Mobile G1 users to easily and quickly search stuff on Google, by using voice commands. That’s right, you won’t have to type your queries anymore if you don’t feel like it. The voice search feature is not yet available, but it will be, after the next Android update comes (which should...

T-Mobile USA will launch “more G series phones” this year

The fact that a G2 exists is kind of confirmed, thanks to those hands-on pics leaked not long ago. But that doesn’t necessarily mean T-Mobile will release any new G-phone sometime soon, is it?   Well, it actually does mean that – at least now, after some of T-Mobile USA’s plans for 2009 were unveiled by a Fierce Wireless interview. Talking about upcoming products, Neville Ray, T-Mobile’s senior vice president of engineering and...

HTC: T-Mobile G1 to get OTA Cupcake updates

Unlike Apple, who doesn’t discuss what upcoming features it plans to include in future iPhone firmware updates, HTC has been kind enough to spill out many necessary details. I’m talking about the so-called Cupcake update that’s said to be in the works, and will bring a lot of bug fixes as well as a few new features to the T-Mobile G1. HTC even put together a video demonstrating the use of an on-screen keyboard for...

T-Mobile prepping free replacement batteries for G1 owners?

Wouldn’t it be nice if all cellphones came with an extra battery pack free of charge? Well, that doesn’t seem like it will be happening in the near future, what with all manufacturing costs mobile phone makers are facing nowadays. But rumors have it that T-Mobile and Google are going to do just that. It is said that T-Mobile is gearing up for a so-called extended battery project in which they’ll be sending out free...

Google launches AdWords for iPhone, Android and other smartphones

Apple’s iPhone, the T-Mobile G1 and any other handset that features a full HTML browser can now display AdWords ads like on a desktop PC, Google says. The Google mobile ads team has launched a new campaign that enables AdWords advertisers to place their ads exclusively on the iPhone and G1. The new ads have most of the features found on the standard ads, including mobile-specific calls-to-action delivery. Advertisers who want to...
